FS either ctd or freeze along the east coast

Featured Replies

When I fly along the east coast around Nottingham Md FS either crash or freezes, I have UT and have disabled it but still no luck I did have Traffic 2005 but I deleated it When it crashed I had the following errors

fs9.cfg.txt

dxdiag.xml

scenery.cfg

It does fine elsewhere else any clue as to why in the one isolated location? I do not have duplicate AFCADS for IAD BWI which are clos to this area.

Most likely an addon scenery then. Disable via the scenery library any addons in the area until you can isolate the suspect.

Also, put all AI traffic sliders to zero and try.

You need to install the 4 gig patch  http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php  It will allow your FS to use 4 gigs of Ram instead of just 2.

I used to get those annoying CTD's every couple of times I flew......with this patch I haven't had one since. When you run the program it asks you to browse to your applications exe file then run the program once....takes about 2 seconds and it's done, go start your sim and enjoy CTD free flights.

Hope it helps for you

Try loading a fresh flight at the nearest large airport. Watch the loading progress bar. Notice what is loading when the sim crashes and look there.

I've been lucky in my latest reinstallation to only have had crashes while the sim is loading terrain, so I've been able to easily locate the guilty scenery area and fix the problem. I don't know what I'd do if it froze loading AI aircraft... I've tens of gigs of flight plans I don't want to dig through!

Please don't install any patch. You are not running out of memory.

Really..........I'm curious to know what makes you so ...... Right, that this is not the problem??

Because FS would report "FS has run out of disk space and must close. Please free up some disk space and re-start FS" (sic)

and that is NOT the message he is getting here.

I have the traffic slider to zero

I I have enough memory 6 gigs and a 1T internal HD and a 1T external HD

OK so disable add-ons for the area.

Also multiple AFCADs can lead to crashes. so you might want to check that out also.

That is a report that used to sometimes come up for me....... Other times I would get no report or various other reports similar to those reported by msyairtran

I have 8 gigs of ram and 1 TB of hard drive and I was getting similar CTDs ....... 6gigs of ram doesn't mean anything if your game is limiting you to 2 gigs.......do yourself a favor, read the text on the page that I offered the link to, it explains exactly what the program does .... It is simple, it makes sense when you read it....... And if it doesn't help then you can safely rule out memory as your problem....... It won't hurt your install and it won't hurt your computer

I agree with Jim. He's not having a memory problem. And he's not having a CTD issue either. He states that FS is either crashing or freezing.

Most likely culprit is a bad scenery texture or a bad AI texture. Since he has set his AI to =0, now deactivated all add-ons and see if problem persist, if not start adding scenery maybe 5 at a time until problem reoccurs. There's a utility here in Avsim library that scans for multiple afcads. Install and run that with all your scenery files activated.

I only have IAD BWI and PHI around this area. I did a afcad scan and found that it may be the PHI since I have 2 different AFCADS one in the ADD SCENERY the other in ADD SCENERY\SCENERY folder Ill let you know what I find

Well .......perhaps Jim and Bill are right, perhaps your problems are not related to only using 2 gigs of ram to run your FS ????

My point is why would you spend extra money to have 6 gigs of ram, and be satisfied knowing that your favorite game is only using 2 of the available 6 ??

Try googling "large aware address" do a little reading on it.....I'm not making this up.

So far the other advice in this thread hasn't solved your issue...??

And the next advise was to disregard what I said.......well, if you can't come up with a solution then perhaps you can go back and have a closer look at my suggestions......using 4gigs instead of 2gigs of ram WILL help stabilize your game..... And will probably solve your crashing/freezing/CTD-ing problem.

Anyways, there is a bucket of water......it's up to you if you wanna have a drink.

I will keep an eye on this thread......but I will now shut up

Good luck either way

Cheers

It's his 2 AFCADs causing this.
