ntdll.dll error
Thanks John. I've already exhausted all the fs9 ntdll.dll search results. I think my next steps are: Reinstall vanilla windows and fs9 on a different hard drive. At least this will rule out a hardware problem since all other programs seem to be running normally. Try putting my old graphics card back in, but I think this is unlikely to solve anything since I cannot find any other fs9 users having a similar problem with the 970gtx. Thanks again for your help. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

ntdll.dll error
Thanks Ghiom. It seems strange as the sim has run flawlessly for years with lots of complex scenery, aircraft and ai add ons. I've reinstalled FS9 and with the basic vanilla programme I am still getting the ntdll.dll crash. Thanks for your suggestion anyway. This is a very frustrating problem!

FS9 ntdll.dll crash
Hi, I've been going around the houses for some time trying to find the cause of an ntdll.dll error. It happens on FS9 usually between 15mins to one hour after loading a flight (but sometimes longer). It can take place at any location or time of day. I've tried disabling add ons, ai traffic and most recently a clean reinstall of FS9 using the late Opa Marshall's reinstallation guide to ensure there are no remnants of my previous install. I've run chkdsk, reg checkers and checked BIOS settings but nothing seems to work. I have previously run FS9 on this system for about 4 years flawlessly. The only hardware change in a graphics card upgrade to a 970gtx. This is the only thing I can think of that has changed that could be causing the crash. I've tried the latest drivers, and older drivers with no success (using the guru3d driver uninstall tool). All other applications and games are working fine so I'm thinking it has to be something to do with how fs9 is interacting with my machine rather than a hardware problem. The exception code on the ntdll.dll crash is 0x4000001f. This seems different from the more common c000005 code that I've seen reported on many FS forums. I have no idea what these codes mean or represent but I'm hoping someone here could shed some light and possible give me some clues to solving this frustrating problem. I'm considering putting the old graphics card back in and seeing if the ntdll.dll crash remains. Thanks for any help.

ntdll.dll error
Thanks John and Ronzie. Reflections are off. I bit the bullet and reinstalled FS9 and the problem remains. I'm therefore thinking it is graphic card/driver related. I might try putting my old graphics card back in to see if I can further narrow down the cause. My system seems stable with all other programmes/games/applications so I'm thinking the new nvidia drivers aren't keen with FS9.

ntdll.dll error
Thanks A32xx. I've already done this. I've tried FS9 running with and without nvidia inspector additional settings and still get the crash. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

ntdll.dll error
Hi all, I'm currently having a major headache with FS9. After a few months of no simming I returned to FS9. I am now having freezes. Through task manager it appears to be a ntdll.dll error. It seems like this error has happened to other users but I cannot find a solution that has worked. If anyone has any ideas that I haven't tried to prevent me having to reinstall that would be great. The only hardware change I have made since FS9 ran fine is a graphics card update to EVGA 970. The drivers are updated and from searching forums I cannot find anyone else who is having issues with this card. So far I have tried the following: - removing all AI (was using WOAI successfully for many years). - disabling add on scenery. - changing locations in FS. - Ran DSK Check. - Ran a driver uninstaller to check there were no bits of an old driver left that were causing a conflict. - HD defrag Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks, Kev

Nvidia inspector and fs9
Thanks Silverheels and Jon. In reply to Jon, it lets me change my FSX settings so it seems to just be a FS9 related problem. Silverheels, I've read your post. I've tried deleting the FS9 profile as someone suggested in that thread, but I can't get a new profile to accept FS9.exe. I'm currently updating to the most recent drivers in the hope that helps. I'm sure it has to be a driver related problems as this is the only thing I've changed since putting in new hardware. It just seems strange that inspector works fine changing FSX settings but not FS9. I'll let you know if the new drivers solve my problem. Thanks, 353.06 drivers seemed to have solved the problem. Haven't checked if it has worked in SIM or what the performance is like but inspector seems to be sorted now. Hope that helps.

Nvidia inspector and fs9
Hi all, I've recently upgraded my GPU to a 970gtx. Because this has involved a driver update (350.12), I've had to redo my nvidia inspector settings. This has worked fine for FSX, but for FS9 when I click on apply changes, any changes I've made revert back to default or will change some flags to 'treat override application as application controlled'. I've done some searching on forums and can't find anything obvious that I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly received. Thanks.

PMDG 747 FS9
Hi, I am currently considering whether to purchase the PMDG 747 for FS9 for some long haul flying. I am very impressed with the ifly 737 and since the PMDG 747 is now quite old, I was wondering how the two aircraft compare in terms of visuals, systems modelling or any other comparisons that will help me decide whether or not to purchase. Thanks, Kev

Loss of Textures
I have also had grey textures after installing the new AA package from WOAI. Try uninstalling just this package through the WOAI installer and see if that fixes the problem. Kev

Price drop - how long?!
Thanks again for more great advice. GTX 580 and 1600mhz RAM it is then. Will hopefully the new rig ordered by the end of the month.

Price drop - how long?!
Thanks for the advice Ben and John. The only other thing that you might be able to help about is RAM speed. I'm looking at 8GB of either - 1333Mhz or 1600Mhz. Is it worth the extra money for the higher speed RAM? Thanks again, Kev

Price drop - how long?!
Hi, I'm looking to get a new system to finally move to FSX from FS9, but have a couple of questions regarding mobo and GPU components. The components I'm unsure about at the moment are: Motherboards: ASUS p8Z68-V Pro/Gen 3 or ASUS P8Z77-V. Both seem to have good reviews but the P8Z68-V is more expensive. What are the benefits of this card? I'll be looking at trying to overclock the i2700k to around 4.3-4.5 and from reviews I've read, both boards seem capable of this. Is this correct? GPU: GTX560ti 2GB or 580GTX 1.5GB. The 580GTX is quite a bit more expensive. From the reviews I've read it seems an excellent card, but is it worth spending the extra money over the GTX560ti? Also, I'm wondering whether delaying ordering until May (ish) will bring the price down with the arrival of the new 680 nvidia cards and Ivy Bridge being just around the corner (I'm looking at getting the SB i2700K)? Thanks for the help and advice. Kev
