November 27, 201312 yr Having seen most of the sim launches on forums over the past 15 years which all generated a cortege of tantrums and rabid posts, I am happy to see that the P3D threads are all well behaved. Am I getting indulgent if not soft wth age, did I miss the juicy ones or did the psychos leave the hobby  ? So far... Although I have noticed one or two little sly jabs. And no names, no pack drill. <_< The World is divided into two groups. November 27, 201312 yr Commercial Member ...or did the psychos leave the hobby  ? That certainly has not happened. (I'm here  ) The P3D discussion threads are starting to become a bit snippy though. Best Regards,Kyle SchurbDeveloper of Virtual Cockpits, Sceneries, and Liveries. November 27, 201312 yr Author Well I remember Fly!2, there was blood and brain bits on the walls, I can live with a little snippy but then again I may get soft B) Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam
November 28, 201312 yr I don't think P3D is anywhere near as good as FSX, in fact I fail to see why so many so called intelligent simmers have been 'taken in' with all the hype  HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
November 28, 201312 yr It looks like a hype indeed. Let me tell you, I used FS9 a lot, then switched to FSX. Bought an i7, and was in heaven. Then the misery begun. I wanted my beloved 747 in it, and yes, the FSX version ran very well. I wanted better clouds, threw them in and behold, it still was fluid more or less. I wanted AI, filled the airports and then saw a drop.. my 747 approaches werent as smooth as I was used to. I wanted a nice airport, and bang... no more fps. I set settings back, and back, untill I have FS9 quality. So, the question came up, to myself, why FSX when you can have the same in FS9 ? Gone back to FS9, made it in FS9.5, and I am a happy 747 flyer for the time being. Oh, also made an calclassic installation, and thats even more fluid, less heavy planes and such. So, back to FS9, and two steps more away from P3D. Btw, XPlane ? saw the youtubes, read some, but sorry, my FS9 looks better.
November 28, 201312 yr Its P3D this, and P3D that.. already tired of it. Johan, It seems like it's always like that with a new release. It will quiet down shortly.
November 28, 201312 yr Johan makes a very good point. At the moment folks are cooing over the super 'performance' and the superb frames. But they've added nothing to it yet. When developers start bringing out ultra high def addons, will we see P3D being dragged to it knees? Discuss. And no, I'm not anti P3D, I'm watching and waiting. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
November 28, 201312 yr Also an OLD simmer that has watched and listened to many flop starts of FSxxx, this is easily the overall best release of a sim since I have been around (that would be mid 90's). Maybe that explains some of the hype and excitement? Ya think? Gosh, let 'em be happy. i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.
November 29, 201312 yr Author Greg I 'm with you 100%, you summed it up nicely Maybe that explains some of the hype and excitement? Ya think? Weird that a thread celebrating the nice behaviour of P3Ders brings up what it looks like some bile with you guys up there  ! You sound like some X-Planers do, no offence intended (oops, what did I say ?). If you want to stay with FS9 with cannot benefit from the wonders of Accusim and OrbX sceneries, it is entirely fine ! If you want to stay with FSX which cannot benefit from all the potential of DX11 and cannot be fixed beyond of what it has been (bandaid management), good for you. You may even go back to the good times of FS2K, the power with you. But I think that the good overall spirit of the P3D forum seems to show a good new sim and, I may add, a forsaken sim that somebody took charge of for future developments. November 29, 201312 yr FS9 is still my favorite.. Just took the PMDG 747 for a quick flight from Macau to Hong Kong ( a massive 20 miles) The Screenshots below do FS9 justice in my view.. FS9 Driver
