December 19, 200421 yr Hi all,Lennart Arvidsson's replacement textures are now available for download at www.fsnordic.net. What a wonderful christmas present from Lennart to the flightsim community :D Ulf B
December 19, 200421 yr Yeah, they look nice an all, but have you looked at the installation process?, either I am being thicker than normal today, or its as confusing as it seems.Has anyone managed to install them yet?Dan.
December 19, 200421 yr Certainly would be if I could figure out how to install the buggers!!!Anyone had any luck?, would sure like some assistance :)Dan.
December 19, 200421 yr This is great news, I was wondering about the release just this morning. Well you guys are 1 step ahead of me, the page loads so slowly I can't even get the things :(
December 19, 200421 yr I've been following the progress of Lennart's textures and they are quite stunning. I remember getting lost in Alaska using his textures in FS8.Does anyone have any idea how these textures will mix along with RealScene 2004 Terrain & Landclass data sets? I'm assuming we're dealing with two different animals here......one being mesh and one being textures.Any comments would much appreciated.Cheers,Jim
December 19, 200421 yr >Certainly would be if I could figure out how to install the>buggers!!!>>Anyone had any luck?, would sure like some assistance :)>>Dan.Hi Dan,I don't use the texture switcher program at all.First I created a subfolder in the sceneryworldtexture folder named 'Lennarts Textures 2004'. In that folder I then created 3 subfolders: 'SummerSpringFall', 'Normal Winter' and 'Hard Winter'.I then unziped the file 'Fall_fa.exe','Spring_sp.exe' and 'Summer_su.exe' into folder 'SummerSpringFall'. The textures in 'Winter_wi.exe' went into 'Normal Winter' and the textures in 'Hard_winter_hw.exe' into 'Hard Winter'.I then made a backup copy of all the textures in the sceneryworldtexture, by copying them into a new subfolder within the texture folder called 'BUP All 2004-12-19'.At last I copied all the textures in the folder 'SummerSpringFall' and 'Normal Winter' into the sceneryworldtexture folder overwriting existing textures.Works for me.Ulf B

December 19, 200421 yr I have successfully installed them. If you look at the last para of the installation instructions, it states "if you want only one file you don't need this program". So scrub all the instructions. Back up your /World/Texture folder first. Then unzip each of Lennart's files. Change the location of the files you are unzipping and point them to /World/Textures. Keep overwriting on and upzip. That's it! Go fly. They look awesome so far even for the USA. I even changed seasons and they do look spectacular. They appeared to take up some frames though but I'll have to do some more experimenting to be sure.Have fun.Jim
December 19, 200421 yr Hmmm. I did manage to put together the directory structure that Lennart wants. Then to running the "TextureSwitch.exe" program. Clicked on the icon and the "Choose Area" screen comes up. Then clicked on "North Europe" and get: "Windows report error number 5" and an "OK" button that stops the program. The "Current Area" remains at "None".Can't tell at the moment if this is something odd in my own setup--or a small glitch in the way that Lennart has gotten his files to us.Anyone else?Best,Mike --Mike MacKuen
December 19, 200421 yr Hi again all,Got them installed the "new" way. They look fantastic. :DOne word of warning though. If , like me, you had the "BlueSphere" ground textures installed you might want to put the originals back on, then install the Arvidsson textures. If you don't you end up with a patchwork of the lighter Bluesphere textures (which only appear near cities, combined with the new textures, which looks a bit wierd...:)
December 19, 200421 yr The reply from Ulfb seems to hit the spot. I created some folders inside the world/textures etc but I'm going to start again using Ulf's idea. Thank you Ulf
December 19, 200421 yr Way,way to dark for my taste using the winter and hard winter, glad I backed up all the originals. Just my couple of cents....David
