December 19, 200421 yr Hello friends! :)I got fed up of flying into empty airports so I downloaded some freeware AI traffic packs! Looking forward to seeing the AI planes flying around. But I had a question - is AI traffic in FS9 regionally programmed? For example: If you are taxying at an airport in Vladivostok, Russia - it would be funny to see a KLM Fokker 50 trundle past :)I know programming each airline out of the gazzillions out there to only show up in specified parts of the FS9 world would not be easy to do...but I was just curious! In the event Im not losing sleep if the airlines are not country-specific...I just want to see traffic!
December 20, 200421 yr Not sure exactly what you mean -but-If you download the AI Packs from http://www.projectai.comThey've got it rigged up such that you won't see Southwest Airlines flying around outside the US...With PAI you download each airline / cargo "package" - which then puts the flight plans (which are based off real world plans) into FS.For added fun (and more AI planes at airports) you can download their AFCAD packages from http://afcad.projectai.com Just be sure to download the right one (the afcad packages are down near the bottom of the front page)
December 20, 200421 yr Cpudan80Thanks! You understood me perfectly. Thats exactly what I was looking for :)BTW...what does "AFCAD" mean? http://www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk/boa...con_redface.gif
December 20, 200421 yr The AFCAD packages assign aircraft parking, taxiing, and runway usage to the airport for which it was created. You can download and place them into the neccessary folders (as instructed in the read-me; usually the add-on scenery/scenery folder) and these will give you ready made airports. If you'd prefer, you can download the program AFCAD2, by Lee Swordy, from here, and using it, you'll be able to customise airports for yourself; for example, I have used it to give parking, etc, to a couple of my local USAF bases here in the UK which by default had no AI traffic. Now I have F15', KC-135's, KC-10's, etc, coming and going on regular flight plans.Of course, you need to make flight plans for aircraft to use the airports tht you have just modified by AFCAD, and to do this you'll need TTOOLS; also available here! Both are easy to get to grips with, and the supplied documentation is excellent. You'll have a lot of fun customising your airports with aircraft that you want to use them. You can also of course modify existing airports to add parking and flights to an already operational airport: I set up parking areas and then downloaded a couple of FedEX packages, which already included TTOOLS flight plans, and so now I have FedEX aircraft flying over Europe, and visiting airports such as Heathrow, where before by default, there were none!Have fun.. :)
December 20, 200421 yr Author AFCAD, CAD style Aircraft/Airport Facility Data management. AFCAD does not actually "mean" anything, it is the name/acronime of the program made by Lee Swordy. It is used to add parking spaces for AI planes (by default MS only supplied a few random spaces), it also allows the spaces to be assigned to different types of planes, such as GA or military. Comercial aviation is also assigned places not only by size of plane and whether pasenger or cargo, but also by airline. so you get realistic parking and grouping of planes.
