ENB series Menu Black Screen Crash

Featured Replies

My FSX would 'black out' every time I choose an option in the menu like map, time, settings, etc. The sounds of the engines and ATC would still be running but FSX is completely blacked out. I tried turning off ENB by pressing SHIFT+F12 but it still would black out. It doesn't happen on short 2 Hour flights but it happens on long haul flights like in the PMDG 747. The preset I used was the 'natural' present from REX. I REALLY love ENB but if it's just acting up, I will uninstall it instead. Anyone with ideas OR have better alternatives to ENB. BTW, I do have SHADES installed but it honestly doesn't do much.

Many are now using SweetFX for a replacement of ENB as it has caused so many problems.  I would not recommend either one be installed.  Just too many problems with both and it really is not worth the frustrations related with these modules.  Very few people have gotten ENBSeries or SweetFX installed successfully without getting graphics anomalies or crashes.

Although you turned ENB off, the modules in the FSX folder will still load and the hacked version of a DirectX dll is loading instead of the proper version required by your video card.

Okay, I'll just give SweetFX a try tonight. It would be a real shame to lose ENB or SweetFX because FSX's default look is very bland and the night colors are extremely off. But I guess a working sim is more important than a beautiful sim.

Anyways thanks Jim, happy holidays!
