December 28, 201312 yr For those who haven't partaken of the latest offering from Lockheed Martin rest assured FSX will compete well with it for some time to come. This is coming from someone who has had a very hard time since V2's debut w/ logging virtually any hours on the 'old' platform, which is of course a testament to how good V2 can look and feel. But it's very unpolished, incomplete, and has situations that IMHO do not compete well w/ the venerable sim. The standard reply to this is that this is to be expected. Indeed, what else can one believe and remain hopeful. And it's reasonable to be hopeful for sure. I decided to fire up the old lady & take a favorite flight of mine, from FB's KSFO > FSDT's KPHX, FTXG, 3D lights glowing brightly. I was struck w/ just how mature & polished FSX really is. That the future looks hopeful for V2 I think is the clear consensus, but right now, using V2 is for me a fun foray into some new visuals primarily and an opportunity to watch the future evolve and be a part of it. Right now though, I can't imagine the kind of performance you see in these screenshots, out of the box in V2, w/ add-ons not built & optimized for V2. And the reality is, we don't know much about what 'optimization' can bring to V2 at this point in time. Cheers!
