December 29, 201312 yr Hey guys. I went from amd to nvidia. My old card was a 6950 2gb. I ran fsx windowd and I could go through fs commander or brows on the internet without issue's. Now due to the 290x only being available with reference cooling. I went to a 780 classified from evga. No when I run fsx windowed on 1 screen. En go to the second screen with my mouse to browse or check something on fs commander. Both screens and also my mouse pointer go into tremendous lag. Is this fixable with a setting in either the fsx.cfg or inspector. Or is this something which is normal with nvidia cards? Kind regards. Rob "Sponge" SzymanskaOwner of: PMDG 737/747/777/MD11/J41. December 29, 201312 yr Hi Rob, No, it's not normal with NVidia cards. Did you let FSX build a new FSX.cfg after you upgraded the graphics card? If not, I'd try that first. Another thought you might consider, and this is a long shot guess, but there's a chance that your power supply doesn't have the juice that the 780 needs. If memory serves, you need something along the lines of a 750w power supply for that card. Just a couple of ideas. Hope it helps you. Cheers. "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return." -Leonardo da Vinci (some experts question the attribution, but I'll go with it for now.)
December 29, 201312 yr Author I have a fresh install of fsx so a clean config.. Also the power supply is a ax860 corsair which is more then sufficient. All games play in ultra. No issues. Fsx runs great to. Except when I do someting on the second screen Rob "Sponge" SzymanskaOwner of: PMDG 737/747/777/MD11/J41. LD 767. Aerosoft Airbus X Extended. Majestic Dash 8 Q400. And many more. December 29, 201312 yr What you are experiencing is Windows "loss of focus" syndrome. Undocking guages will cause the same scenerio in Windowed mode. The os accelerates/focuses on the second monitor and not the main display. (was not aware AMD/ATI VC didnt have this issue). You obviously are running in Windowed mode and you wouldnt have this problem if running in fullscreen but you also wouldn't be able to view your moving map. If you keep clicking on the main screen it will bring the os back into focus and your FPS will go up but thats no fun. Exact reason why Ive been using client computers to display apps such as FSCommander so I can run the Sim computer in Fullscreen all the time. BTW, its a big issue with P3DV2 not having a true fullscreen mode
December 29, 201312 yr Author Copy. And indeed. Amd did not ever had this issue. So I guess I'm going to sell this card next month and buy a 290x non ref card. They should come out mid January. Thanks for the info. Rob "Sponge" SzymanskaOwner of: PMDG 737/747/777/MD11/J41. LD 767. Aerosoft Airbus X Extended. Majestic Dash 8 Q400. And many more. Vatsim Hours: 1000+

Thanks for the info. As Jeff stated above this is not normal nvidia behaviour. This might happen with gauges but web browsers and FC Commander are not gauges. I have a GTX670 with multiple screens and using a web browser while running FSX has almost zero effect. You should do some more investigating before you sell. gb. YSSY.
