Aerosoft not accepting criticism and telling falsities...
Not too much time. LoL A first post that's not much more than "sour grapes" doesn't really strike me as something that will take a turn in a positive direction. The End!!

Access to PMDG forum
The link that Kyle directed you to was not in an AVSIM forum, it is in the PMDG General Forum, which is where your post would have been more appropriately placed, given that the topic has nothing to do with the T7. Have a Nice Day!! Jeff

Trying to register product
This might help get things sorted for your friend. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/437045-key-request-failure/?p=2945600 If not, either Ronzie or Ray Proudfoot can usually get the registration issues taken care of. They're here pretty frequently. You could drop one of them a PM if they don't respond here. Hope that helps. Cheers, Jeff

Help on Mandiant trojan infection
Hey Bruce, glad you got it sorted. There's a program that I wholeheartedly recommend for keeping your computer clean of spyware, keyloggers, and other crap. It;s called Spybot Search and Destroy. It's an excellent program that will find stuff that even MalwareBytes will miss. It's free and very well supported. You can purchase an upgrade that will provide some advanced features, but I've found the free version to be excellent and very effective. Cheers, Jeff

How many installation allowed in single PMDG 777?
Sorry, you can't do that. One purchase, one license, one computer. Cheers, Jeff

Slowing down AI traffic at busy airports
Wow, that explains a lot.

Slowing down AI traffic at busy airports
What happened to those three planes afterward? It does take a little while for everything to settle into a flow. It could well be the 100% AI setting. Looks like you're running pretty much every airline WOAI offers, lol. Sadly, everything we do in FS often involves compromise. Go arounds are one of the things we just learn to accept. I'm only at the airport for a few minutes on a flight so I just use enough AI to give me the right feel with as few AI conflicts as possible. Sorry it didn't work so well for ya. Cheers, Jeff

Shimmering in FS9
Reducing the mipmap slider to 4 doesn't necessarily translate into better FPS, but it does have a positive impact on texture loading times and reducing prolonged blurriness, particularly in the case of photo scenery. As for FS9 using multiple cores, it will do it but from what I've observed the affinity has to be reset every time you start FS for it to do so effectively. Mine is set to use both of my cores, but in order for me to see it actually happen, I have to start FS, then go into task manager and disable one core, click ok, and then go back in and re-enable the core I just disabled. Then FS9 uses both cores effectively. If you monitor your CPU core usage as I do, you will see the change quite clearly. This doesn't make FS9 use more of your CPU however, it only spreads what it does use across the cores, the effective amount of processor resources the sim uses doesn't change. Hope this clears up some of the questions for you. Cheers, Jeff

Help on Mandiant trojan infection
Oooh, ouch. Sorry to hear, Bruce. I can't say one way or the other about the site or application you're referring to, but I wanted to mention a couple of things that might help. First, that virus, from what I've read, could potentially wipe out your hard drive. I know there was a virus out there that would encrypt your drive and if you paid the demand, they would send you a key to decrypt it (maybe). A couple of things I would try before trusting an unverified program is first, try to boot into safe mode and see if you can get in. I'd also take a chance and give Microsoft a call. Since you're on win 8 and this virus has been around for a while, they might be able to help you out. The best thing would be if you had a backup of your drive or your registry you could revert to, but you still need to get into your system to do that. I hope you get it sorted out short of having to reformat the drive. Best of luck, Jeff

Flight Simulator and the news
Some of the posts in the other threads have postulated scenarios worthy of a Tom Clancy novel!! They'd be entertaining if not for the fact that they are tied to such a real life tragedy.

apologies if I have been short or pissy....
That's a great post Paul. I know we all go through things in life that aren't always obvious to others. I've had a few things going on myself that are making life extremely difficult at the moment, and then to really put the whammy on it, I lost my mom just recently, so the time I spend here has been my escape too. Hang in there, and know that when all else seems out of sorts, you always have friends here for support. All the Best, Jeff

Slowing down AI traffic at busy airports
Let us know how it works for you. Remember to let it run for a bit because, if I remember right, AISmooth doesn't really start working until one aircraft has landed. Just FYI. Cheers.

Slowing down AI traffic at busy airports
Oh WingZ, I was afraid I might get sucked into a technical discussion on this, LOL. I know the only technical difference in the two programs is that AI separation doesn't recognize the user's aircraft and AI smooth does. Beyond that I can only talk about what I see happening in the sim. It seems that with the way I have it set up, AI Separation has the AI pre sequenced before it gets to AI smooth's area of control. The result is a smoother sequencing of traffic to the approach with far fewer aircraft holding off in the distance than if I were only using AI smooth. When I tested this, I was sitting on the edge of 9R at KPHL (SunSky Jet's) with about 75% AI traffic (all the WOAI stuff). I had maybe one or two go arounds per hour with a steady stream of traffic. With my settings, landing aircraft would be taxing off the runway while the next aircraft was 1 to 2 miles out on the approach. I've tested this at other airports as well, with similar results. I've only tested this in the airliner environment, i.e. big airports with big planes. I'm not sure how these setting would affect a small GA airport with a lot of Cessna's doing pattern work. Anyhow, my settings follow, so all I can say is try it out and see if it works on your systems as it does on mine. The only thing to lose is a little time in testing. Cheers, Jeff

Flight 1 ATR fs9
The ATR is a very complex aircraft that can definitely push your system to its' limits with all the eye candy turned on. If you're still having problems with the performance of the LDS 767, I'd hold off on the ATR until you get that sorted first. From the limited system info you've mentioned, the clock speed of your CPU is going to be the biggest issue with performance since it's a bit on the slow side. Gateway systems aren't really the best gaming systems and there really isn't a lot you can do to tweak the performance of them. You may have to dial back some of the settings on the sim to improve things. If you want to post your FS9.cfg here, I can look at it and see if there are any settings that might be holding you back. Cheers, Jeff

Glad that helped. Yup, FS9 is like a fine wine, it just keeps getting better with age. Cheers!!

Flight Simulator and the news
Honestly, I think this topic is ok as it's not specific to the situation with flight 370. A.J., you're right about what happened after 9/11. There was a lot of talk about how realistic it was and that the hijackers may have practiced on FS. There were a lot of critics back then, too. I hate watching coverage of aviation incidents on the news because most of the talking heads know next to nothing about aviation. And it's so sensationalized. But I don't think it's just Flight Sim that gets bad press when things like this happen. I've seen a few kids who have stolen cars and done tons of damage, only to hear in the news that they spend 10 hours a day playing GTA. It's all just society's natural instinct to find someone or something to blame for things we don't have the answers to or.that we can't yet explain. The truth is, sometimes bad things just happen, but that explanation doesn't attract viewers or pay the bills. Cheers, Jeff

Slowing down AI traffic at busy airports
I set it up after looking through a tutorial I found online somewhere. Either here or on Flightsim, but I don't remember. Anyhow, I have a copy of it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dd2hyly8p4h2gn1/manual.zip I just started with this and tweaked a little from there. I'll try to get a shot of my settings a bit later when I'm not pressed for time. Cheers, Jeff

Slowing down AI traffic at busy airports
I'm one who uses both AI Smooth and AI Separation together with excellent results. Configured properly I get a smooth flow of traffic in and out with minimal go arounds or disappearing AI, and I don't have a bunch of planes circling for hours either. One other suggestion is not to try to run with 100% AI. Particularly if you're loaded up with WOAI and GA traffic. Drop the slider down to 50-60% and you'll have plenty of traffic and less of a crunch at the departure end of the runway. Cheers, Jeff

Thoughts on Dell Aurora
Personally, I'd also stay away from Dell (though I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their higher end monitors) as well as the other "box store" brands. There are expensive options and some of the cheaper alternatives that have already been mentioned. The last time I had one built, I went with AVA Direct. http://www.avadirect.com/ . They build a great PC. I found them excellent to work with and they offer an absolutely mind numbing array of options with which to customize a system to your exact specifications. Of course, with so many options, you'll want to do some research first so you have an idea of the pros and cons of all the options available. You can put a system together on-line and then give them a call and they'll go over everything with you piece by piece so you avoid any problems later. If I were building a new system today, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to them. If money is no object, I've heard great things about Jetline Systems http://www.jetlinesystems.com/ . They build systems specifically for flightsim enthusiasts, but they are also about the most expensive option out there. A lot of folks prefer to spend as little as possible to get a system that they can tweak and customize on their own while others prefer to spend more for the peace of mind of getting a system that will perform the way they expect.it to, right out of the box. It all depends on your knowledge, abilities and of course, your bank account. Cheers, Jeff
