December 31, 201312 yr Morning Folks: When I download an add-on for FSX via an on-line store, does it included the latest, most recent service packs? What is the best way to determine the add-on is up-to-date? Thank you. A. December 31, 201312 yr If you download it from the original developer, you can be sure that the version is up to date. If you buy it from someone else, you should also be able to get either the latest version, or atleast the store would provide the service packs as an additional download. However, if the update has just been released, the updated version might not have been sent to all the resellers, so in that case you'd either have to wait a few days or download the update from the developer's database (or however that is managed in the particular case) An easy (but not always possible) way to determine your software version before installing is the installer name. Not all, but at least some developers include the software version in the installer name. If the product is installed already, you can check the version easiest via the Control Panel ->Add and Remove (or Programs and Features), usually the file version is listed there as well. Determining, whether a product is up to date or not isn't that easy, especially when you buy it as a boxed program: You will need to check the developer's site or forums to see what the current version is, and then check your own version.
