January 9, 201412 yr I bought P3Dv2 today and been fiddling with it 6-7 hours now.. I installed Orbx NIR and doing my testing and comparizon with FSX in this area(Belfast City Airport). In FSX using payware GA planes I get constant 30 FPS and a stutterfree expirience, in P3Dv2, I get 15-20FPS and stutters using default planes... I have tried disabling all shadows, HDR, lowering autogen, disabled tessalation etc etc but it doesn't help. If Im Lucky I can get upto 22FPS in short periods but with that super performance I have pretty much disabled everything and I might aswell have installed FS9 because thats what it looks like after tuning the settings.... In short, my FSX install runs like a trimmed Ferrari and P3Dv2 runs more like a rusty old Lada.... Are there any tweaks I can add or are those days over? I was one off the guys cheering halleluja and swore too burn my FSX discs and pi.ss on the fire afterwards when I got my hands on P3DV2. Boy am I glad I waited with the disc burning party, looks like FSX is gonna stay with me for awhile longer, until i get this stuttery mess sorted out  :( Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp
January 9, 201412 yr I also have had problems with Orbx NIR and believe there have been a number of comments made on the FTX forums and also somewhere in this forum. I agree, with this particular scenery addon, you will find a drop in frames and they are not sure why at this stage. I would suggest that you "tune" your sim outside of that area and you will be pleasantly surprised. In the meantime, have some patience with Orbx, as I believe they are working hard on some of the compatibility problems and working on updating their libraries (which I suspect are the problem). Let us know how you get on outside of NI.
January 9, 201412 yr Author Ah, didn't know about the problems with NIR, and when Orbx is aware of this Im sure they will sort it out. B) Phew, I thought the problem was on my end or Lockeeds, thanks. I have been testing FTX Global around areas I consider heavy on performance and I get my locked 30 and Im quite satisfied. Reason I tried NIR was to give the sim more workout too see what it could do since it's a full region(I assume it is more demanding than just FTX Global) and got really dissapointed when FSX outperformed P3Dv2 in this area even with higher settings. Guess I'll have to wait until they release the rest of the regions and fix the issue with NIR before I switch completly too this new platform(I need some good scenery before I can fly:)). So far the transition to P3Dv2 has been trouble free for me except with NIR, all my Saitek hardware and trackir worked fine without any issues. Got a lot of my addon planes too work also so all is set. Now I just wait for the Orbx installers to get released so I can ditch FSX for good.. Thanks for your help, now I can rest easy  BTW, one more question though, I haven't seen much of the promised 3dwaves, do I need to have the water setting on max too get that effect or?
January 9, 201412 yr BTW, one more question though, I haven't seen much of the promised 3dwaves, do I need to have the water setting on max too get that effect or? I think so, but my understanding is that the waves are still a work in progress.
January 9, 201412 yr Author Ah yeah, I see the waves now after turning up the water settings and cranked up the wind:). Excellent, hallelujah, this is the future for sure:D No further questions:p, Thanks again.
January 9, 201412 yr I haven't tried a floater yet, but it could be worth trying to land on the waves during high winds to see if there is a buoyancy effect! Anyhow .... glad to have helped. Have fun.
January 9, 201412 yr Author Damn, I need to test that right away after I install the cub, could be alot of fun!(woops, I ment good training/simulation offcourse) ^_^ Edit: Tested the cub in the waves, I does get affected some by the waves, but It's far far from perfect... I Guess we won't see real interaction with the waves until there is released a native P3Dv2 addon planes that takes advantage off this feature...
