January 14, 201412 yr Why would just changing out my router from one with no builtin wifi to one with cause my client computers to stop communicating? All have static ip addresses, port opened on router, wideclient ini files properly set.... Ive tried everything. Am running Project Magenta software on clients. AFter I start up P3D v2, I run wideclient. It says connected. But PM software fires up, then freezes for several seconds then seems to work. However, firing up third client with PM CDU and wideclient says connected but then CDU causes both clients to freeze. It is a bedeveling problem. As I said, only difference is new router, on which I have disabled firewall and opened port. Please help. John
January 16, 201412 yr Hi John, alot of wireless routers have a feature called "client isolation" this prevents users users being able to connect to other wifi users, its mostly used for internet cafe type scenarios for security. I would suggest you have a look if you have thats enabled. also you should check the IP on both of the pc's and try to ping one from another. If the ping fails the above is your problem. If the ping succeeds then something else is the issue.
January 17, 201412 yr Author Thanks, FLamer. I CAN ping the other computers. I just had to fall for my cable providers offer of a free tablet to update (at only a few extra bucks a month). It was a matter of "It wasnt broken, so why did I fix it." I was happy the way it was. Oh, well. Maybe Ill get a router and just take them off the wireless network all together and see if that clears it up. Ill really miss flying the CRJ with the project magenta software, though. Dont like squinting at those small virtual cockpit displays, and dragging the FellTHere ERJ displays over to othe monitors just kills frame rates.
