Service Based Failures and Autopilot

Featured Replies

Hey there,

I was doing a routine flight from Denvery to Billings in the NGX when the autopilot failed to turn to next waypoint. When I decided to take AFDS from LNAV to HEADING SELECT to try and intercept course again, I found that unresponsive as well. It was the second time this has happened in two flights and thought to check the FMS PMDG simulation options and saw that I had checked Service Based Failures. Once I unchecked this feature my autopilot was able to recapture both LNAV and VNAV. If anyone as any knowledge on this that'd be great. Are there things I need to do to ensure these don't happen when service based failures are checked?

Happy flying!

It would be extremely helpful if we knew what was wrong with the aircraft, specifically.  There's a FAILURES menu that tells you all of the active failues, which would help us to point you in the right direction.

My thought is that it was coincidental that it worked when you turned off service based failures, because, from my understanding, the failure would still be there since it happened before you turned the setting off.
