LCC, controllers & GUI

Hi everyone,

Bit of a headscratcher, I'm afraid..

First up - W7, Opus 3.41.0. Xbox controller, with MS drivers. PS3 controller, with Motion in Joy. And Saitek Yoke and quadrants

Followed the best practice & FAQ's; all but issue stated seems to be OK.

I just cannot get LCC control to see button presses when I configure them in shortcuts.

The devices are all good in Windows calibration, FSUIPC sees them too. If the controllers are enabled and have assignments in FSX, these work just fine (though the controllers are normally disabled in FSX and otherwise assigned in FSUIPC as wanted).

At this stage, I think there may be something more fundamental at hand - if I use the LCC GUI via the FSX menu option (or launched within OPUS) nothing at all happens - nada. It doesn't change my view at all, regardless of whether it is stepped, continuous slow or fast camera movement.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled - deleted the c:\OpusFSX folder post uninstall but to no avail.

Spy window does not detect any button press, but I can confirm it does recognise the controller has been plugged in;

GEN  Input Device 1 : MotioninJoy Virtual DS3

Controllers work outside of FSX, so I think I can comfortably discount hardware as the possible root cause.

Opus is set to launch at FSX startup via exe.xml - I have - although it's been disabled - EZDOK. All EZDOK views have been removed from CFG's.

Really have no idea where to go from here - Stephen/Cheryl/others - any advice would be very much appreciated!

I assume you edited the FSX SETTINGs and deleted all button and axes assignments (automatically made by FSX) to your new PS3 controller, and saved the changes.  The controller should be enabled but control nothing. Similarly for FSUIPC the controller should control nothing.

When you check your list of devices in the Spy window does it match the list in FSX Settings in exactly the same order?

Hey Cheryl,

Yes, everything as above.

OK, so I ended up deleting my \Controls\Standard.xml, cameras.cfg and disabling/reenabling Live camera via Opus.

This has managed to fix the problem. I think somewhere along the line, something got corrupted (my standard.xml kept reassining slew controls on my PS3 controller, or things got confused about what they were doing :)

LCC GUI now works, as does using it via a controller (which is really, really cool, BTW)

Fingers crossed, all is good now
