  1. Well, quick update - thank you to everyone for the suggestions. Turns out, reapplying the enhanced power fix posted actually worked. This is one of the first things I carry out on any Windows rebuild, so didn't occur to reapply that. I looked away from power since it just seemed to be that very, very narrow scenario, but there we go. Thanks everyone, Have a lovely day. Louise.
  2. Thanks for the reply Bob. Sorry - perhaps my original post wasn't clear. I've recently clean installed to W10 2004, and have been checking the USB ports. As I may have noted in my initial post - I've been connecting via a powered hub and direct from USB ports on the PC. Thanks, Louise.
  3. Hi Vic, Thanks for the reply. This is something I'd already done, though.
  4. Hi everyone, I'm posting this here before official LM forums as it may be a wider audience picking this up Recently purchased v5 with latest Hotfix. Installed onto clean Windows 10 (latest version). I'm running a Saitek yoke/rudder and extra throttle. My issue is this. After a short amount of time in flight, the yoke will stop working. Windows actually sees it as disconnected, and the LED readout on it also freezes up. If I am sat idle on the runway, moving the yoke, it's fine. Can move it every which way, and have left it like that for >15 mins, and the yoke works fine. Can confirm once the yoke has "disconnected", Windows doesn't see it either in game controllers until I remove and reconnect. Managing axis via P3D internals or FSUIPC makes no difference - if I unplug the yoke, then reload Simconnect in FSUIPC, the yoke gets picked up agian, but will drop off almost immediately after that. I've tried using RAW input and Direct control. No difference. Using the same yoke on XPlane, can't replicate the problem. This is absolutely consistent - although the time between takeoff and disconnect can very from almost straight after takeoff to 10 minutes into a flight. I've noticed every time that the sim freezes momentarily. USB Select suspend, and power management on the specific ports are off. Using different ports (direct into PC and via powered hub) makes no difference. anyone encountered this at all, ever? Many thanks, Louise.
  5. Hey everyone, Any ideas if these are compatible with each other? I got a stream deck and want to use it for keyboard shortcuts. P3D is ignoring ANY request coming from the Stream Deck - I've tried to map zoom, sound, a couple of ChasePlane views, nothing..nothing at all. Can get Zoom in/out working in other applications mapping +/- via the Stream Deck software to do this. Try the same thing in P3D, no dice. I've also tried using PRNTSCREEN mapped to a third party application's screenshot function - again, working fine in other applications, but no response in P3D? https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/stream-deck is product link. It's admittedly geared up primarily to content creators, but no reason what I am doing shouldn't be possible, per their blurb. Where I can get it to work, it's actually near enough awesome! Any of you running this combo? Anything I'm missing or need to be aware of? I have FSUIPC reg'd if that makes any difference (although have already disabled it to see if keys respond). Ideally, this is trying to get some hotkey functions to quick switch my chaseplane views mapped on the stream deck. Thanks, Leo
  6. Hi Keven and team, Thanks for a great piece of software that seems to get significantly better on each rolling release :) Not sure if this is in the known issues list, but I'm trying out the track aircraft on static view. This does work OK when viewing "live", a plane is centred on screen, but when I start using the *Work in Progress* replay function, the camera is locked to the position of the aircraft when the view was created e.g. Camera at road outside RWY2, LSGK. Created the camera by going to predefined runway view, then creating a new camera out of that (to enable advanced feature > Track aircraft). Aircraft was parked on Runway 2 at the time, and camera snapped to follow. Live tracking the approach, the camera works fine, camera moves with the aircraft (admittedly, assume this - the camera moves, but there's a hill between the camera and the plane coming from SKP approach!) If I then replay, via the replay UI the camera stays at its fixed view, i.e. looking out over RWY2 where the parked aircraft was originally set up. Cannot rotate camera, fine to zoom, move up/down). I get that the app itself is still beta, and the replay function is WIP - however, thought it mention worthy as this doesn't seem like expected behaviour? Thanks, Leo
  7. Same issue for me too. Loving Chase plane, but would think it awesome if it can play with facetracknoir
  8. I use the exe to launch fsx, I don't think it's enough to just place it in the root folder? It is working fine like that for me in win 10
  9. Where have you installed it to? Program files directory?
  10. I recall reading, on Reddit I think, that NI doesn't work yet on 10.
  11. Can you provide any MS statement to this effect? WU is most certainly NOT as it is, out of the box, like Win 7/8/8.1 (home and pro) . I know this to be the case having been on the insider preview builds. Keen to know what OOTB settings can be changed on this.
  12. I just don't get why they're persisting in a charging model for home variants of the os. Linux & OSX are both free. Heck, you can install OSX on a vanilla PC of you really wanted to..
  13. SimlancherX sort of does this. I can set a radius and then center that on a specific airport. It's free, and I'd really recommend it. Support forum is on here
  14. Hi Maarten, I've been having an issue with Simlauncher's KML import function. I'm perhaps getting one pushpin displayed, and all other airports are just displaying the name and no pin marker. I can confirm that if I view the KML in Google Earth Pro, I see the pushpins as expected. The export is coming out of Simstarter. It used to be fine, I would get airports with their pushpin icon, but something's changed fairly recently. Any thoughts - what do you need to see in terms of logs from me? Thanks, Leo
  15. You wait. Really. All this buy in to BBS's pre release, "promise it'll come some day stuff" just perpetuates the excuse that a handful of developers can get away with the notion that they can over promise and under deliver. And once they have your money, if they don't want to give you what you expect, too bad. What you gonna do? Do I own the Airbus? No. I primarily have no interest as I just don't have the time for **any** tubeliners these days, and honestly, I got burnt from this outfit under their old PSS colours. Let's not actually forget the fiasco that was PSS's 757. You can read plenty in the old PSS forum, if you go back far enough. Troublingly, it seems a bit of history repeating itself. As an example, I'm writing this on Windows 10 Technical Preview. Like this Airbus, It's unfinished software that I'm being given the opportunity to use. Unlike this Airbus, its unfinished software that I am not expected to pay the privilege to test. And that's the difference. It's unreasonable for me to expect polished, as bug free as can be software - I'm getting it free, in return the developer expects me to give open and honest feedback; and I've been sure to give that. Ask me to pay - then I absolutely expect you, the developer, to fix the bugs and give me updates, pronto. Irrelevant if you're a multinational or small team - money's exchanged hands, it's a different relationship now. It says something about us as a community that we are seeing a trend of this being acceptable behaviour There are plenty of excellent developers out there - from the one man outfits to the de facto corporate developers. Learn their history, their proven track records contributing to this simulator. Know that these are the developers who really deliver - and sometimes exceed - on what they promise. Support them. It's worth the wait.
  16. Hi Flavio, Yes, would agree that in this situation, there is probably something in the Win8/F1 application relationship that is not working well together for you. But I would disagree that this is inherent with Windows 8.1, rather I would say it's something specific to your Windows 8.1 installation. I have a number of Flight 1 applications - UT2, RXP, Opus, QW BAE, Britten Islander.. the list goes on a bit more. I've not had this freezing experience, ever. I can tell you here the sum total of FSX/Windows 8.1 specific issues I've had: EZDok's World Camera failing to map the correct memory area and thus enable World cameras in the sim. A problem that actually looks to be fixed in the latest beta. Joystick disconnects. Solved with FSUIPC and a quick registry edit. These however, are not issues that have been unique to my setup. Narutokun's post (http://forum.avsim.net/topic/459066-eaglesoft-citation-x-20-in-fsx-se/?p=3149138) I think sums up exactly what I'm trying to say. I'd look to your W8 installation in the first instance, and look to see where the problem lies. Regardless of whether or not a developer/publisher currently supports a particular OS or not, they can only support an OS if it works as expected (usually the "Out of the Box" installation). Correctly configured, W8.1 is great - reliable, fast & secure! HTH, Leo
  17. Hi Maarten, So do I still need to configure all the remote folders too? Or should Slx pickup the server instance and not require the networked folder locations?
  18. Just awesome. The manual is a must read though (I assumed for example, I could just go ahead and use UNC's to map my server folder locations, but you have to use mapped drive letters). Still reading through everything, as I have a play. Thanks Maarten, this is payware quality. Expect a token or two of gratitude
  19. Hi, start with the tutorials built into fsx on the basic planes. Work up from there. Learn the basics first. You wouldn't learn to drive in a Ferrari?

  21. Looks like it affects 7 too..http://www.eyeonwindows.com/2014/08/14/august-update-tuesday-patches-causing-bsods-on-windows-7/
  22. Evernote. It's a digital scrapbook/organizer/notepad that's free and can be used/accessed on multiple platforms or just browser. Onenote is an alternative, but I think the client is paid for.
  23. Tried Sim starter? I think that will do what you are trying to achieve. Google Simstarter from memory.
  24. I can actually believe this. Having used tablets in ios, android and windows, I find windows possibly edges out on top. Not enough for me to dump android though :-)
