January 16, 201412 yr Hi Guys, I am a student pilot, learning to fly in the Cessna 172R. I have the saitek cessna pro flight yoke and throttle quadrant (why the heck did they ship it with a quadrant and not a TPM like the cessna has by the way ). I have the pro flight rudder pedals, trim wheel, the multi panel, the switch panel and the radio panel.I have a lot of spare buttons. namely the rocker buttons on the yoke and the switches below the throttles. (I also have a pitch trim on the multi panel and a elevator trim wheel - aren't these the same thing? can i remap the pitch trim to something else?)Just wondering, if anyone has some good suggestions on what other functions I could map keys to that is somewhat realistic.I like playing around in the jets too, so I need speed brakes/spoilers too maybe park brakes or cargo door open close or pushback request?, where's the best place to map these to? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. All I am really trying to achieve is getting the most accurate cockpit that I can with the gear I have
March 16, 201412 yr I see you have no replies as yet.. As you will know the saitek panels wont give you controls in positions you would normally find them in a real plane but for the price cf other options it gives a reasonable approximation with the exception of the gear lever being in the switch panel. The closest configuration I can get to reality is - at right side of yoke -top- radio panel 1, mid. radio panel 2, and bottom- multipanel and throttles below that. At left side I have - top -two FIPs displaying engine gauges ( I know thats the wrong side), mid - switch panel and bottom - backlit panel. . Placed directly above the yoke I have a small touch screen monitor that dislays a camera view for the main flight instruments plus pop ups for the GPS, ATC etc panels. (The monitor is same width as the yoke) One suggestion .... I have the saitek throttle quadrant's 3 rocker switches assigned to activate the pop up panels.. e.g. GPS, ATC, Kneeboard. To get 6 functions they can be assigned to first push = on and second push = off which is what I have and I use the other three for auto rudder, airbrakes and push back. If you put in a touch screen, you can use your finger on the GPS buttons and for ATC responses instead of having to use a mouse.
