adding lights to a flyable model

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I was loking for a freeware model for the Airbus A300-600 and found the great Airbus model by Harald Nehring, Frank Weiss 2004. I was actually looking for the freighter model to do a repaint for FedEX Express. I was not able to find the freighter model, because I needed the cargo door. The link for the model is no longer available in the Avsim library, but, I've been able to use the regular passenger version and closed all passenger windows to make it visible when flying at night.

While testing the model during night flying I noticed there were no files for the night lights. I was able to adjust the textures for the middle fuselage so that the landing gear reflection shows up under the belly of the aircraft and also on the side of the engine cowlings. I got the landing lights for the fuselage and nose gear as well. However, I cannot find the nav lights, strobe lights and beacon lights in the electrical section of the aircraft.cfg folder. Can someone here help me on how to add them?. I understand there are some adjustments that need to be done in order to place them correctly on the wingtips. A few years ago I was able to place the strobe lights to Eric Cantu's Boeing 727-200 with the help of an expert here in the forums. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Also, if someone knows where else the freighter model is available, I would appreciate the link. Thanks for taking the time to read my request.

Lights such as those are present in a Lights section, not the Electrical section.  Take a look at a default aircraft (or other aircraft) for the details.

You are right, I meant the lights section. I see it there, but for some reason the lights are not working, except for the landing lights when I click on the "L" in my keyboard. I also downloaded a panel for this aircraft and when I turn on the light switches, the nav lights, rotating beacon and strobe lights are non-op. I downloaded a couple of other repaints with the same model and their lights are not operating either. I will keep searching. Thanks for your response. :(

Problem solved!. I was able to copy the lights section from an AI model (TFS), and replaced the original ones and now all lights work as they should.

I'm trying to upload the short video I made to show you the lights.

^_^

Now, all I need is the correct freighter model. I'll keep searching for it, unless someone knows where to find it, please let me know. Thanks again!.
