RC AND COM2 WITH NGX

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am oming up to you about the possibility to use the COM 2 Radio channel with the NGX.

It is possible ? I´ve tried to the set the clearance frequency or similar to the COM2 Radio but nothing happens so far.

Do I have to set the audio selection panel in a Special Position ?

I don´t understand so far the issue why the COM2 does not function.

Has anyone any hints and tips to get this channel running ?

Many Thanks !

Cheers

RC only confirms and tunes frequencies set in COM 1, and plays through that via a direct audio channel outside of FS. That is hard coded. You should be able to use COM 2: for other applications. Your NGX should have COM1 abd COM 2 on its annunciator control panel set. I don't recall its location .

Using COM 2 simultaneously could slow performance since RC and FS end up using the same wav audio output in the Windows main audio mixer to my knowledge. Note that on the RC voices tab, you can sample the controllers, etc, by clicking your choice and FS does not have to be running.

I recommend letting RC tune your COM 1 as its frequencies used might be different then your charts precluding setting standby frequencies as well. The frequencies used can be seen on the controller tab. Any changes you make there will be only for the current session.

There is an officially unsupported method of using frequencies pulled in from your installed scenery. That is described in a thread elsewhere and is handy for adding new airports used as add-ons. You can search for that using missing frequencies or adding airports.

If adding a new airport is your intent, it requires another file to be modified besides the frequency database file.
