IAS AP problem P3dv2

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I know that PMDG do not offer support for this product in P3dv2. However, i am going to turn to the community to see if there is an answer for this one.

I have noticed that when you select the IAS in the AP, it turns off Alt Hold and VS. Does anyone one know why this would be. I suspect it might be because of the script for the IAS AP?

When you hit IAS, it turns off Alt Hold and VS because IAS is a climb/descent mode, not an auto throttle.

Basically, instead of climbing/descending at a set VS, it uses the current throttle position and varies pitch to maintain that speed.  This aircraft does not have an auto throttle.  Adjust the throttles yourself, accordingly.

This information could have also been easily found using the manuals.

Hi,

Thanks for this , i am aware if the IAS function. I think might not have explained my self correctly.

When IAS is engaged. , if turns off the following;

1. Vs

2. Hold alt

3. IAS!

There is a script issue here , I think

According to your specs. Your not even using P3DV2. How would you know what he's referring to? There is a script difference in the AP IAS between FSX and P3D. I dont have V2 but do have V1.4 was the same in in V1.4.

That is great thank you, as I suspected. Let's hope pmdg fix this. Do you know of a community's fix?

I originally thought it was an issue of not knowing how the AP functions worked.  You'll note he clarified in his next post.  No need to get snippy about it.

If you'd like to segregate users who use P3D versus FSX to prevent people who don't have it from answering seemingly generic questions (despite an intention to simply be helpful), you're welcome to go hang out in that section of the forum that specifically addresses P3D.  Until then, a simple "there is a script difference between the programs" would have sufficed.

Thanks all for your help, do you know if there is a community up date for this? Also I have noticed that the battary go dead after about 5mins even when the GPU is attached. Have you seen this ?

This forum is probably the most up to date, honestly.

No.  I routinely land, taxi in, shut down, and leave it on the GPU for an hour or so between legs.  My first thought is that you may have enabled the GPU using the ramp manager, but didn't actually select it on the overhead.

Also, do you have any other programs you're running that could be interfering?  Particularly those "passenger" programs...

No my flows are good, so it is not that. I wonder if this is another p3d error. Thanks again

Technically?  No.  This product is for FSX, not P3D, so there's nothing to 'fix' really.  It's being used in a program that it wasn't built for.

It's being considered for a separate future release for P3D, though:

Hi All,

So it turns out P3d fixed this problem with the GPU in 2.2 - Great news.

IAS is still outstanding.
