FSX- black free flight screen

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a black screen upon starting FSX where the spinning airplane should be. When I select another plane, (screen still black) and click run, everything loads, you can here sounds of the plane running and cockpit sounds but still a black screen. I've read threads on this subject and so far I've: 1) updated my graphics drivers 2) deleted the FSX config. and let FSX build a new one. Those didn't work. Before I try doing a FSX repair, which I don't want to do ( I just did an complete FSX reinstall recently), does anyone have any suggestions of things I might try? Thanks so much.

Do you have photoscenery?  This always happened to me because all photoscenery, even photoscenery you are not going to be flying over, is loading and that takes up a massive amount of resources.  If you haven't already, I would download SceneryConfigEditor and load only the scenery you plan on using during your flight session.  Of course, a bad tweak will do this but you said you rebuilt the Fsx.cfg and that should resolve that.  Same with too high Fsx.cfg settings.  A rebuild of the fsx.cfg will fix that but you have done that already.  So it can only be the scenery loading in the background.
