March 5, 201412 yr Hi, Today, I spent 30 minutes typing up some detailed instructions for a merge, to send to Ron Attwood and when I hit send, I lost everything, as I appeared to have been logged out by the system, while active in the PM dialogue, typing. As I'm sure you can imagine, this is incredibly frustrating - when you have about 32 minutes free time per day and you spend 30 mins of it trying to help a fellow hobbyist and lose all of your effort. Can anyone confirm that this behaviour is normal for the PM system? At least if we know we can permanently and formally ensure that anything getting "typed up" into AVSIM that takes some time (eg... PMs, Reviews, long posts, etc) is done OFF-LINE and copied in after. I've done long PMs and posts before and never had to do this but the current stresses causing unreliabilities with AVSIM as a website are perhaps causing it? I get constant "Service Unavailable", getting logged out, etc. It is a shame. I wholly appreciate AVSIM is a free service, but without malice or emotion, as a point of fact it is without doubt currently the most unstable unreliable website that I visit. I'm talking of course purely about system unreliability. As an organisation, AVSIM is first class. But the system problems are getting very frustrating and are now feeling like a long term "way it is" rather than a short term issue. Anyway, thanks for all the hard work that all volunteers give to make AVSIM what it is. I am hoping that one day system reliability can return to what it once was, giving us back the PERFECT flight sim website. :smile:
March 5, 201412 yr I always highlight and copy any text I make in any post, even if it's only one line, before I hit Send. Occasionally I need it, and all it takes is a paste. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
