March 18, 201412 yr Hope I'm in the right place. When I try to load a helicopter with new gauges and am asked to trust the gauge and accept, when loading to an airport the program freezes and I must use the task manager to close. Restarting the FSX helicopter and gauges work fine. Tried same gauges in an airplane no problem. Something with the helicopters trusting the gauge and going straight to an airport snafu. Aside from a repair or reinstall where might I look to see what's missing. I have already looked and rebuilt the fsx.cfg. I tried putting three helicopter gauges (ch47's) in the main gauge folder and added their lines to an airplane. They where trusted, went straight to an airport, gauges in the plane. Switched to the CH47, gauges already trusted in the cfg worked. Seems only when loading a helicopter. Even moved the helo to the airplane folder from rotorcraft, same issue. Any ideas?
March 18, 201412 yr Don't see why the trusted gauges would be a problem. You can say no to trusting the gauge and it will still work. Evidently the gauge or gauges are not compatible and are eating up resources trying to locate component, etc. I would run AppCrashView and see if there is any error log. That could pinpoint the problem. See the AVSIM CTD Guide under Hot Spots to the right of this forum for the link to AppCrashView. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 18, 201412 yr Author It's not the gauge. What happens is whenevr I try to load a helicopter that needs a gauge trusted it freezes when loading. Remove the gauge it loads. Trust the gauge installed in an airplane it loads. Now the gauge is on the list in the fsx.cfg file the helicopter loads. Does that make sense? Only the helicopter and only after trusting a gauge in that helicopter freezes. Even then the gauge is accepted but you need to restart the program.
March 19, 201412 yr Only the helicopter and only after trusting a gauge in that helicopter freezes. Even then the gauge is accepted but you need to restart the program. Just because a gauge is trusted does not make it work properly or that you installed it properly or it works for the helicopter on your system. I've never heard of a gauge or product not working because it was not trusted. It has nothing to do with getting the gauge to work. So, when you remove the gauge, FSX works fine. This means there is something seriously wrong with the gauge addon you are using. Somehow it was not installed properly. Run the AppCrashView and see what was the faulting module. That will give you the best clue as to what is wrong with your installation of FSX. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 19, 201412 yr Author It doesn't give me an error report in the events but I tried a few of the gauges three gauges from a CH46 in question in a F4 corsair for kicks (after removing the trusted gauge entries in the fsx.cfg) just for kicks and fired up FSX ran the corsair after trusting the gauges again the Corsair loaded just fine, three CH46 gauges right on the screen. Then changed back to the CH46 and now the gauges being trusted again with the Corsair loaded just fine. I do have a lot of AI, addons and use Word Not Allowed and Nicks tweaks so I am sure something small is amiss, just can't find it. Other then this my FSX is working great. Now, before I would consider a repair or reinstall I would like to find what has created this so as not to do it again or at least know thie correct fix. I am sure you know what I mean, reinstall and find it is still a problem as small as it might be. If it was happening to the airplanes as well might be different but only the helicopters when needing to trust a gauge the first tie.
March 19, 201412 yr Hopefully you will find a solution. I've never seen this issue with the trusted section before. It has nothing to do with how your aircraft performs or runs so it is really strange. Hopefully someone can come on here and give you a solution. March 19, 201412 yr Author Thanks, I have been searching the web and other forums as well. The two things that would get me is one, I reinstall the program and find it has nothing to do with the program or two, it goes away and I will never know why.
