March 25, 201412 yr The last two ILS approaches I've made into Las Vegas airport, on short final, the autopilot has made an automatic go around...what causes this? My TACS is set to TA/RA and I've heard a TCAS warning...was that the reason for the auto-go around? If so, how do I inhibit that from happening...at this stage in my learning process I don't want to have to deal with automatic missed approaches because of traffic alerts. Thanks... March 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member The aircraft cannot do an automatic go-around (that would be insane) The pilot always has to initiate, push TOGA with the A/P engaged and then the automatics will take over. Second push of TOGA for full rated thrust Rob Prest
March 25, 201412 yr at this stage in my learning process I don't want to have to deal with automatic missed approaches because of traffic alerts. They don't exist. First of all, all TCAS commands (RAs) have to be flown manually. Furthermore there is no such thing as an automatic activation of G/A. Do you have any steps to reproduce the behavior? Do you have any key strokes set to TOGA, be it on your keyboard or maybe mapped to external hardware?
March 25, 201412 yr Commercial Member Thinking about it more - He's probably way above max landing weight, flying the wrong Vref & the A/T is trying to protect him from stalling. Rob Prest
March 25, 201412 yr Author I have Shift-T mapped to TOGA that I use for TO. I'll check my key settings...something must be triggering the TOGA on short final then...thanks... Ralph Freshour www.GMTPilots.com
March 25, 201412 yr Author The gross weight and Vref 152 were ok (normal)...the problem was I had set Ctrl-T to TOGA and then when I setting up my EZDok outside camera for the Tail view I used the same key combination. So somewhere on final I was viewing the tail shot and that started the TOGA !!! I remapped TAGA to another key and now all is well...!!! Thanks for the suggestions however...
