How do you assign buttons to options from within ATC?

Featured Replies

I'm using a USB interface model 2125 from Desktop Aviator to assign some buttons and switchens and it works very well. What I'd like to be able to do is assign buttons 0-9 to choose selections from within the ATC such as selecting airports etc.. Unfortunately, I don't see how I can do this like I've done for  assigning other things such as Auto Pilot options etc.. I would think this would be possible. I'm hoping I won't have to use the keyboard for these.

Thanks

The ATC menu is hard coded and you must use 1-9.

Drat!!!

It really kills the realism having to use the blasted keyboard. Guess I'll assign the buttons to other items. Think I'm going to be ordering a miniture keyboard to at least make it less obtrusive.

Thanks anyway Jim.

I believe that some have used an USB number pad in the past with good results.

How do you use the FSUIPC for this? I do use that for some of my other hardware.

You have to have the paid version, well worth the money in my opinion. FSX controls nothing, totally disabled. I use FUIPC4 to control all my flight controls and other inputs via my flight yoke , throttle quadrants and Xbox 360 controller.

Ric, I've got the paid version. My son stopped over and we got it working. Thanks for the help.

One issue I did have with FUIPC4 is my TQ6 flaps I couldn't get to work unless I checked them from within FSX. Kinda weird but as long as I got it to work I was fine with it.

Do you have FSX detecting your controllers? I did and it caused all sorts of problems. What kind of issue were you having with your TQ6? If you are using A PMDG product, PMDG warns against it, however I had zero issues with the B777 and 737 NGX. Sometimes you have to reverse the settings in FSUIPC, especially "Spoilers" and "Flaps",

Ric, as I am doing a lot of modifications right now I think I'll try to uncheck as many of the assignments as I can within FSX and make sure they're running through FSUIPC as much as possible. I'll try again with the TQ6 and see what happens.

If I remember correctly, I think I couldn't get it to recognize the negative number when trying to set. I thought I had tried every option including the reverse setting with no success. Everything was working from within the Control Panel calibrating area. When I checked the setting back within FSX and went back into FSUIPC it worked again.

Haven't used the PMDG yet but would like to try it eventually. Especially, if I rebuild my system for faster frame rates one last time.

Here is my setup for Flaps on the PMDG 737-700. There seems to be no negative value needed. Should work for any aircraft.
