Prepar3d shadow problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

When mark  cast shadow interior i have these "fireworks" in cockpit. This problem is not related to wheather or airplane. I play with shadow level and N.I. settings  but without any success

No problem on my side with this setting. Did you tell this problem at the LM forum too? By the way, I can't open your screen shot.

Problem solved.I deleted the shadow folder and i reset to default the graphic driver and everything is going fine.
This problem is related to N.I. I try the NI profile from Word Not Allowed or Rob and and the result is the same

I have the same problem.

Deleted the shadows folder, tried reloading my nvidia inspector configuration, same problem :-/

Only happened after upgrading my video driver.

I am using the Bioshock 2 AA compatibility mode.

after delet the folder you may need to reset defaults nvidia driver (prepar3d profile) to resolve this.

...and dont touch N.I

I will try this again tonight, but I am using NI so I can use the 'Bioshock 2' mode for antialiasing. Otherwise P3D just looks yuck.

For use N.I. i guess it is better to wait next driver from Nvidia. Is possible to have an optimized profile for prepar3d v2

There have been many documented cases of issues with 2.1 and the latest (last two or three) nVidia drivers, causing shadow issues and these coloured blocks when using SS through NI.

Hopefully the next set, which have some exciting optimisations for DX11 will work correctly with 2.1/2.2 as they may give a boost to performance... but for now it is best to return to 332.21whql, if you are experiencing these problems.

I'm hoping LM have made formal submissions to nVida to ensure support and correct functionality with P3D.

I've disabled NI completely (back to default settings) and no more blocky shadow textures. Hopefully the next patch or nvidia driver will fix this.

I've just turned "Receive shadows" off and it solves this problem. Why, I have no idea.

Turning shadows to Medium also does the trick, for some, and you can extend the shadow distance by editing the cfg, changing the 'medium' draw distance to a higher value.

I hope the new nV drivers, that are out tomorrow will finally fix this issue.

Actually, no, not in my case; I can turn Shadows to Ultra, still get plenty of FPS with a lot of other things near-max, but if I have "Receive" on in the Lighting for anything..... sparklies.  Nothing to do with draw distance or LOD radius or the like.

Fixed in 2.2, great! The shadow fx are lovely.
