April 3, 201412 yr If your referring to the Carenado C208 EX G1000. I believe its not required as the AP is used to activate the Nav and Appr. GPS nav is active when the PFD CDI is set to GPS. (Magenta). Radio nav/ Vor/Approach to Green.
