The dreaded "fatal error"

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Fairly new DX10 user here. Tonight I spent ages preparing my flight on the ground, only to get the dreaded fatal error just moments after take off, and haven't got it in me to go through it all again tonight!

Does anyone have any advice for reducing the frequency of these, or insights into what causes them to occur? Is it settings too high, generally? I've only really had a problem since going to DX10.

Thanks

Hey MDF86,

Just to rule things out.

Did you start with a fresh FSX.CFG?

Did you set up DX10 Per the guides?  Available that is?

IF SO,

Would you please post you FSX.CFG here for us.

Also would you let us know your water setting?

Looking over your system, it looks like a nice system.  Even with the best out there the going information is recommending water to be set to 2x Low no higher than 2x Med.

Finally what aircraft are you testing DX10 in.

This info will help!

Respectfully,

Jet

Hey Jet

Yes I set up a new fsx.cfg not long ago at all, minimum tweaks, just the essentials as I'm taking my tweaking slowly this time ;)

Water setting is 2xMed - I have just changed it to 2x low and I'll see how I go with that for a while!

Aircraft - Aerosoft A320, it might be in my head but I'm sure I get it more with this than in the NGX

Here is my fsx.cfg

Hmmm.

Well, the only thing I might change on this would be these two.

TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=2048

FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.15

Not that these will solve the CTD.  However you might get a nudge in performance.  So at least you might do better there.

Try 1024 instead of 2048

Try .20 instead of .15 <-  The lower the number on FFTF the slower your system will run.  Without going into a big explanation of FFTF.

Other than that, give that driver a try.

If nothing helps and you still get CTDs I am out of tricks for ya.  :)

Respectfully,

Jet

Thanks Jet, appreciate your help.

You bet!  Let us know how it goes.
