That's what I was thinking, Adrien....although I suspect that those CPU-Z figures may be without FSX running. Most modern CPUs automatically throttle back to idle (which is usually around 1.6Ghz) when at the desktop with no other programs active, and automatically increase to maximum speed when required. Having said that, it's possible that mine could have been set in the BIOS prior to shipping, so what do I know? :lol:

 

Yes you are right, He must run FSX in window mode and check at the same time CPU Z (FSX must be running without pause)

 

Idle mode can be disabled in the BIOS.

Is it the picture of CPU Z when FSX is running ? Coz if yes it will explains all your problem, your CPU seems to be idle, you have to turn on turbo boost !

 

Regarding your FSX.CFG I suggest :

 

[bUFFERPOOLS]

RejectThreshold=16384 or UsePools=0 (You can experience artifacts with UsePools=0 if it's your situation raise your water setting to max X2 and it doesn't help try RejectThreshold=16384)

 

Delete ForceFullScreenVSync=1

ForceWindowedVSync=1 and activate 1/2 Vsync with Nvidia Inspector and limit your FPS at 30 inside FSX.

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=350 If you are flying IFR try this in order to get better performance

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=250

SmallPartRejectRadius=2.0 In combinaison with the terrain tweak, you will have less autogen but it'll not popping

 

Check the resolutions of your clouds and the algorithm of compression, you must choose DXT1

D you have hyper thread of or on in bios?

 

Affinity mask 14 is only correct if it's off. (Not sure if your CPU even has ht or not) but just make sure, otherwise you are only using a core and a half.

 

Is your psu powerful enough for the video card?

No, I don't have hyper-threading. And my PSU supplies 650W. It's enough, right ? :unsure:

 

FSX still runs at max 20 FPS with the PMDG 737. With other planes like Alabeo's I get around 30 FPS. 

 

I am really confused, since the problem seems to come our of nowhere.  :(

I too am experiencing the same scenario, Got a new rig 2 weeks ago, and ever since I'm trying to tweak it to run at a reasonable fps considering that I do run UT2 and ORBX Global.

 

 

My goal is to get autogen geenration (currently slow)and texture popups fix with a minimum 12-15FPS in heavy metropolitan areas. I'm not asking for smoothness but rather playable so I can land the damn plan on the ground without jerking it around.

 

 

Current setup:

 

I7 4770K 3.5 (OC 4.4)

 

Asus Radeon R9 290X 4gb

 

2x8gb RAM 1866 R9 DDR3

 

Win7 64bit

 

Corsair h80i Liquid cooler

 

PS 750watts

 

 

Already tried playing with bufferpools, I am runing an ATI card so I'm using external FPS limiter (been proven to give me greater FPS) while in game set to unlimited. I think rejectthershold works best vs usepools (at least for me). CCC was adjusted to recomended setting for antialiasing and such...  HImemfix was applied.

 

 

I remember I applied the http://www.venetubo.com/fsx tweak to my cfg file with my old computer and we're talking about a 5 year old rig and I was getting a decent experience of 10-12 FPS in JFK and area, which is playable. Unfortunately the site is down and I'm not sure if there's anything similar to it anymore where I could apply to get a similar experiance if not better.
