Hi guys !

My FSX is running extremely slow... I get around 10 FPS with:

Core i5 2300 2.8-3.4 GHz
12 GB RAM DDR3
GTX 560ti (a bit overclocked)

FSX SP1+Acceleration

FSX.cfg tweaks (using Word Not Allowed's guide) including HIGHMEMFIX=1, Usepools and some others...
PMDG 737 NGX
FSinn (for VATSIM connection)

The thing is I get around 10 FPS practically everywhere: on the ground (default and add-on scenery) and even in the air (sometimes I go up to 16 FPS, but that's it).

Can you guys help me with this ? I can barely stand flying like this and I am really suffering... because I know my PC isn't that bad. 

Maybe this fact can help: once, FSX ran really good (Above 30 FPS) but it was one year ago just before I had a one-year brake with flight simming. 

I don't know if it's a hardware problem, or just an issue with my FSX settings/CFG.

Please help me guys.. I'm totally disappointed and frustrated.

also, if you use a usepools= entry, have you done the long testing work to get to the right setting for you?

It didn't work, even with the sliders down I got 16-20 FPS.

I don't have any traffic add-on, and all of the traffic sliders are at 0%.

I have the correct Usepools= setting and have the Affinitymask=14.

I am not able to upgrade to the 2500K right now... 

I will do a full re-install of FSX and tweak the CFG correctly, and I'll tell you guys later how things are working.

I recently had this exact same problem; for me the solution was to plug in the appropriate power cable from my power supply to the video card, which in my haste I forgot to do!

Ok, so I've re-installed FSX (totally: uninstalled, removed the FSX folder and installed it again). I have installed SP1 and acceleration as well. 
I have installed the PMDG 737, REX 4 and tweaked the CFG with Bojote's tool and Word Not Allowed's guide. 

But I only gained 2-5 fps... every plane works well but the PMDG 737: it runs between 17 and 25 FPS in a default scenery.
I am pretty disappointed... is there anything else I can and should do ? What is wrong with my PC ? :(

Check with CPU Z if turbo mode is on, with FSX is running. Can you overclock a little bit your CPU ?

Zoran, any chance you would mind sharing your .cfg and Inspector settings? I have the same setup as both yourself and the OP and have a similar problem. I have it running at about 25-30 but with steep fps drops (down to 5-10) which are effectively massive stutters. Don't get me wrong, it's not fps I'm after, but heck, it needs to be smooth!

I have changed my max clock speed of the CPU in the BIOS to 3.5 GHz (which is the highest clock speed for the i5 2300).

Is it the picture of CPU Z when FSX is running ? Coz if yes it will explains all your problem, your CPU seems to be idle, you have to turn on turbo boost !

 

Regarding your FSX.CFG I suggest :

RejectThreshold=16384 or UsePools=0 (You can experience artifacts with UsePools=0 if it's your situation raise your water setting to max X2 and it doesn't help try RejectThreshold=16384)

 

Delete ForceFullScreenVSync=1

ForceWindowedVSync=1 and activate 1/2 Vsync with Nvidia Inspector and limit your FPS at 30 inside FSX.

That's what I was thinking, Adrien....although I suspect that those CPU-Z figures may be without FSX running. Most modern CPUs automatically throttle back to idle (which is usually around 1.6Ghz) when at the desktop with no other programs active, and automatically increase to maximum speed when required. Having said that, it's possible that mine could have been set in the BIOS prior to shipping, so what do I know? :lol:

we have diff set ups, my card is i2500k OC to 4.5ghz

D you have hyper thread of or on in bios?

 

Affinity mask 14 is only correct if it's off. (Not sure if your CPU even has ht or not) but just make sure, otherwise you are only using a core and a half.

 

Is your psu powerful enough for the video card?
