New hardware to increase FSX performance- suggestions?
Hadrien Moreau replied to avgaskoolaid's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcInvest in a good CPU fan and overclock up to 4.5GHZ, after that you'll be stick at 30FPS for sure. I don't think changing the GPU will increase your peformance. FYI i've got an i5 2500K running at 4.5Ghz and a GTX660, I'm stuck at 30FPS all the time.

i7 4770k vs i5 2500k fsx?
Hadrien Moreau replied to papaja's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcFYI I'm running a i5 2500k up at 4.6Ghz easily with aircooling. FSX is stick at 30fps.

Stutter/freeze just during the flare
It's solved with SP1, you can install 22khz sound package which help to avoid stutter, and you can also activate the option "preload sound"

17JUL14 - Updated PMDG 777-200LR/F and 300ER Release Information
Thanks for this answer. Although I've got a powerfull computer running at 4.6Ghz my Achilles heel is the hard disk, I don't have a SSD, it's why I've got this freeze, otherwise during the taxi takeoff cruise all is smooth up to 30fps. I can't wait to test these new preoload sounds option, great news.

17JUL14 - Updated PMDG 777-200LR/F and 300ER Release Information
Great news ! It'll be an epic friday ! Performance won't be significally different, well ok but I hope you didn't forget to fix the landing lag. Probably due to the high soundload during the landing, a lot of users have reported 1 or 2 seconds freeze before touchdown, which is particularry annoying to complete a perfect landing.

Stuttering whilst taxing
I experienced the same issue, for me the stuttering was due to the bufferpools. If you want a smooth taxi I advise you to use RejectThreshold=65536 (small aircraft, small complexity) // 32768(PMDG, high complexity)

SP1 Beta Testers: Performance Differences?
Did they fixed the landing lag ?
-
No landing gear, no control over the switches etc,etc..
Same issue here, PMDG777 is loading succesfully 1 in 10 times, it's getting boring, I understand that there is a security for piracy but it's scandalous when I'm unable to fly the plane with a legit license due to this safety.

FSX slow with i5 & GTX 560ti
Hadrien Moreau replied to AF1621's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcYes you are right, He must run FSX in window mode and check at the same time CPU Z (FSX must be running without pause) Idle mode can be disabled in the BIOS.

FSX slow with i5 & GTX 560ti
Hadrien Moreau replied to AF1621's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcIs it the picture of CPU Z when FSX is running ? Coz if yes it will explains all your problem, your CPU seems to be idle, you have to turn on turbo boost ! Regarding your FSX.CFG I suggest : [bUFFERPOOLS] RejectThreshold=16384 or UsePools=0 (You can experience artifacts with UsePools=0 if it's your situation raise your water setting to max X2 and it doesn't help try RejectThreshold=16384) Delete ForceFullScreenVSync=1 ForceWindowedVSync=1 and activate 1/2 Vsync with Nvidia Inspector and limit your FPS at 30 inside FSX. [TERRAIN] TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=350 If you are flying IFR try this in order to get better performance TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=250 [sCENERY] SmallPartRejectRadius=2.0 In combinaison with the terrain tweak, you will have less autogen but it'll not popping Check the resolutions of your clouds and the algorithm of compression, you must choose DXT1

FSX slow with i5 & GTX 560ti
Hadrien Moreau replied to AF1621's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcCheck with CPU Z if turbo mode is on, with FSX is running. Can you overclock a little bit your CPU ? Paste your FSX.CFG here.

Tweak cockpit lighting
Ok, I'll try to be more accurate, take a look at my video from 1:40, it's sunset and we can see the amber backlighting. Same on this video Here again Here from 4:44 during the arrival at Hong Kong Your video make me laugh because it's a FSX video and not real life

Tweak cockpit lighting
Basically, MD11 is an old generation PMDG aircraft, lighting was'nt as good as the NGX or 777X. Regarding the color, it's not a subjective impression, color is more amber (I confess I said orange, my mistake) in ALL the videos, professional & amator footages. Well, I do not want to discuss if PMDG is right, I'm just asking if we can tweak the lights, final point.

Tweak cockpit lighting
Me too, had never the chance to visit the flightdeck but after watching all the videos it seems lighting is more orange. It's like NGX cockpit, the color was too white not enough orange, I've got the oppurtinity to be on jumpseat several times and I'm pretty sure of this. As far as concerned the MD11 do you know if we can tweak the color like in the NGX ? It's a minor problem, it won't change my way to fly lol I'm juste curious if we can tweak this
