FS9 Crash and Howard 500?

Featured Replies

I just installed the Howard 500 from the library to see what it was like. Unfortunately, I tried it twice and twice it crashed FS9. This is obviously not a common problem but I was wondering if anybody else has had this occur. If so, how did you get round it or do you have any suggestions as to how I can prevent it happening.

It makes FS9 hang rather than crashing it. I haven't been able to find any other posts with this problem so I assume I might have done something wrong. I'll reinstall.

The Howard is one of my most trusted aircraft for both reliability and flight simulation. An outstanding aircraft. This past weekend Milton Sharpe, the author of the Howard, post some aircraft.cfg file updates to this site. You may want to check them out.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems.I am not aware of any issues causing this lockup response. The Howard is heavy on textures and has many gauges. The panel and gauges are self-contained. Did you by chance unzip the cab files in the panel folder; you should not.Did you use the Installer or did you do a manual install? The aircraft.cfg released this weekend was simply a fine tuning of reference speeds, flaps settings, and brake strength and should not cause issues.Post your findings here or write to me directly. This should be easily resolvable.Milton Shupe

Just to let you know, I changed the airport from default Seattle to Orlando Int in Florida and the plane loaded ok. I'll try Seattle again tonight. It was probably just a one off. I took it for a spin and all I can say is WOW!!!!!Victor
