February 14, 200521 yr Your help please...Suddenly I've got clusters of white rectangles popping up in the vicinity of some airfields in FS9.Have not added any scenery or changed any settings. They look like white apartment blocks.Anyone got a clue what's causing them.Thanks.Frank
February 14, 200521 yr Perhap a picture/screenshot? It could be missing textures? Could be an overheated videocard showing artifacts. Please be more specific..:)Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. To go down, pull the stick back harder"
February 14, 200521 yr Author I have dveloped them around Emma Field. I had the problem years ago (FS2002) but can't remember a solution other than reinstalling Emma Field. I haven't done anything about it yet while hoping for an easier solution.Randall
February 15, 200521 yr Do they show up where you would expect trees to be drawn? Trees in FS2004 are just two intersecting rectangles with a texture and transparency mask applied to each face. If the texture is missing or has somehow become corrupted, FS2004 will still draw the trees as untextured white rectangles.
February 15, 200521 yr Author For me, they are big squares in the sky around Emma Field. Looks like selected cloud textures might not be properly displayed.Randall
February 16, 200521 yr Frank,They also bothered me a year ago for several weeks or months. I have forgotten how I got rid of them but it is possible to do so. I THINK that I changed a parameter for dynamic or autogen swithc or in the display options of FS9 or in the FS9.cfgI try to find it.I did find that I have in FS9.cfg SCENERY the DYNAMIC_SCENERY AT 1That is all I can find. The problem occured when I loaded an add-on (Norway airports I think). One day by chance I found the switchh to manipulate and bingo the problem dissapeared. Good luck. Can you feed us back ?Roger Roger See my specs in my profile
February 16, 200521 yr Author I went to the Emma Field Flying Club forum and searched for a solution to the white squares. It appears that it is a cloud texture problem and the solution is pretty simple involving replacing a couple of cloud texture sets. Chris from FSW gave the solution. I'm sorry I don't have the link but it is easy to find.Randall
March 4, 200521 yr HI..I developed the same problem..White rectangles popping up all over the place on the terrain. If I put the AUTOGEN DENSITY slider to nil then I would not get the white rectangles. It was some kind of texture problem. I have a backup of the original FS 9 /TEXTURE folder so I deleted the current FS 9 TEXTURE folder and copied my backup of the original FS 9 TEXTURE folder to FS 9. I then reinstalled all textures I had installed previously (Dawn to Dusk)etc and found I have eleminated the problem..Must be corrupt texture files or something because I now have the slider on Dense and no more annoying white rectangle squares. Dont know if this helps but that was my shotgun solution. TH
