Reality XP GNS-530: Can't see Roads on Map screen.

Featured Replies

First of all, let me say that I am not a real world pilot.  I have installed the GNS-530 using my panel.cfg.  It shows up fine and I have mastered making changes to the Map page, with one exception.  Note that I have not set up the GNS-530 within the planes panel, but for now I am completely happy just using the key as defined in the panel.cfg.

I have set all types of roads to at least 50 nm or more.  I have read (and re-read) the pilots's manual, and do the following:

  • Within the Map screen, I press the MENU button.
  • Using the small right knob, I select "Setup Map" and press the ENT button.
  • I turn the large right knob to select "Line/Road".
  • I use the small right knob to select "On", and then press the ENT button.

At this point I can see the roads in the map setup screen.  Now I press the CLR button, and the map setup screens disappears, but unfortunately so do the roads.  Note that the map page is set to 10 nm.  Is there a step that I should do at this point that isn't included in the manual?

Thanks, PDX

I will respond to my own thread.  I did several google searches and found my answer.  By accident, I decluttered my screen and made the roads go away.  By pressing the CLR key multiple times, it changes the level of declutter from everything showing to almost nothing.

I do hope that in the future, at least one person can benefit from my lesson curve.

Happy Flying!

I was just about to respond with that bit of info.

Glad you got it sorted!
