May 2, 201412 yr Especially when enabling HDR i can see a lot of heavily shimmering objects in the landscape. When zooming in from the outsideview i can identify them as watertowers (maybe other objects are there too, but just did see watertowers in my quicktest so far). This extreme shimmering makes HDR totaly unusable for me. (And especially this overload of watertowers is a total nonsense when flying in germany e. G..) Is there a way to disable those watertowers (and maybe similar objects) completely? I remember, that in fsx there were modificated versions of the default.xml for example. Before starting to search and modify, I'd like to now if anybody knows howto.... Removing the "default.xml" is no solution, because it removes the trees in the towns too. Setting SceneryComplexity to zero doesn't do the job too...
May 2, 201412 yr Author I managed inbetween to disable the water towers by editing the default.xml, so far so good. Now would be nice to have some solution to eliminate the other white flashing (cartraffic on the roads - which i want to keep, and some other textures)....
May 3, 201412 yr The solution for car traffic seen (shimmering) into the very far distance would be the following: You'll have to edit with photoshop: VEH_Land_Tex01_Cars_Specular.bmp - Only keep the 4 lights in the right lower corner, make the rest of the alpha channel black. Delete the following specular bmp's VEH_Land_Tex02_Cars_specular VEH_Land_Tex03_Cars_Specular VEH_Land_Tex04_Trucks_specular VEH_Land_Tex05_Vans_specular Veh_Land_Tex08_Commercial_Specular All these files are in: Scenery/global/texture Hope this helps Gerrit
May 3, 201412 yr I uploaded a ZIP to the AVSIM library containing the above DDS files. Should be soon available in the P3D Miscellaneous department. Gerrit

Cars still there but not shimmering anymore. @gboz: I used Xnview for the quickedit of the dds (no bmp). Now there are "just" a lot of rooftops, windows, doors etc. which are shimmering....
May 5, 201412 yr Now there are "just" a lot of rooftops, windows, doors etc. which are shimmering.... Yes and runway/apron lines too. Good to hear though it worked for you. @gboz: to save you the hassle try this: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=4A570D9D923E29D%21159 Install DDS's in P3D/Scenery/Global/Texture Gerrit
