Are you above 1000ft? IIRC, Boeing doesn't allow the AP to be engaged below that altitude AGL. Also, did you set everything (FMC, MCP,...) according to the manual?

Has the autopilot worked for you before the most recent change?

Exactly what are you doing when the sim is refusing to activate the autopilot?

I think i forgot something during startup, because in the next flight the autopilot engaged...
