February 18, 200521 yr Does anyone know if Holger Sandman's Columbia River Gorge landscape package, which was recently released on AVSIM (15 Feb), is compatible with FSGenesis's American Landclass? And, if not, is there some way to get around this? I would love to be able to fly with this scenery in FS9. Thanks for your feedback!
February 18, 200521 yr I'm not a scenery expert, but as long as you give the new scenery a higher priority it will show up correctly. There isn't much that can wrong so I suggest you give it a try and take a look at it. The installation is straight forward and takes you about 3 minutes.cheers,Claudio
February 18, 200521 yr In the readme there's a extensive explanation about compatibility with other meshes. It says plain ande simple: This package is fully compatible with the freeware LOD10 add-on meshes by FSGenesis and FSFreeware and will seamlessly blend with either as long as the add-on meshes are placed in the FS Scenery Library *above" the Columbia River Gorge entries (mesh files of the same resolution have reversed display priorities compared to other scenery add-ons.Hope this helps!Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. February 18, 200521 yr I am using both and they work beautifully. There is a readme that explains how to disable potential conflicts with Flight1 USA Roads (which I also have) and I also have FSGenesis American Data for streams, railroads and powerlines. While his readme didn't specifically cover the FSGenesis AD product it was easy enough to go into those files and disable the files that would cause a conflict because they are named the same as the default files, just in their own folders. It is a significant improvement for the visuals, I can recognize the area now and some of it is very close to looking photoreal.Zane Dr Zane Gard Sr Staff Reviewer AVSIM Private Pilot ASEL since 1986 IFR 2010 AOPA 00915027 American Mensa 100314888
February 18, 200521 yr Yes - you put Holger's *mesh* *below* the FSGenesis mesh and Holger's landclass *above* any addon landclass (the FSGenesis landclass installs itself into the base scenery folder by default so all addon scenery is automatically placed above it - MyWorld on the other hand needs to be moved down in the scenery priority order). -
February 19, 200521 yr Thanks, everyone for your thoughtful insights. I'm unfortunately experiencing a system crash :-( on my home pc, so I'll have to reinstall everything before I can tell you more about how things are running with both Columbia River Scenery and FSGeneis. Noenetheless, it sounds like most of you have found it to be compatible which, of course, is a good thing. Thanks again!
