February 18, 200521 yr This is one of the most frustrating, befuddling things I've ever run into. :-(While executing an approach to KLAX (either 25R or 24R), I will get to a point about 15 miles (or so) out and the simulation will just freeze for a few moments. Sound does not seem to be affected and after a few moments, the sim unfreezes and the approach continues.I've noticed this problem both when using SB and also when just flying without connecting to SB. I'm on a cable modem, so I do have continuous Internet connectivity.System Specs are as follows:OS Name Microsoft Windows XP ProfessionalVersion 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600OS Manufacturer Microsoft CorporationSystem Name GAMER-01System Manufacturer System ManufacturerSystem Model System NameSystem Type X86-based PCProcessor x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 1 AuthenticAMD ~1990 MhzBIOS Version/Date Award Software, Inc. February 18, 200521 yr I would suspect that your system is running out of horse power to fluidly render a complex airport such as KLAX.You 'only' have a 2GHz CPU, 512MB RAM and a 9700 graphics card.Ignore SB and online flying for now and try to remove the pause when flying offline. You don't say what you have set in FS, nor what screen resolution you run at, nor what level of AA & AF you have.Try turning off AA & AF (if set) and any AI traffic. Also move the scenery details sliders to the left and see if the pause goes if flying the default Cessna. If you haven't done so already have a look in the 'Hints & Tips' sub-forum for all the other things you can try to improve performance.Good hunting.
February 18, 200521 yr I have exactly the same thing happen with Heathrow Pro scenery, even the distance of 15 miles is the same but it also happens from any approach heading. I suspect it is due to the ground texture file size as I have noticed when approaching closer the textures try to appear and it takes a second or two for them to draw. I might try installing the reduced texture size for Heathrow Pro that someone posted a while back. I haven't noticed this happening anywhere else though, including KLAX.
February 18, 200521 yr If you're using SimFlyers LAX v2 that will happen. It happens with their ATL v2 and IAH. I can't remember if ORD does. The other older simflyer sceneries don't, they're not gmax.
February 18, 200521 yr The new textures for Heathrow Pro are DTX3 and I noticed the file sizes were slightly larger than the originals. I installed them after making a backup and as I expected there was no improvement on the previous situation. I don't yet see the point of them and over 200 files modified must have taken a very long time to convert. The readme only states that the textures can look smoother and does not mention any other benefits.
