I am trying to find a rex theme in FSX DX10 that creates an ocean scene where the sun shimmers on the water. Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to try the different ocean textures and sun textures and see what you like. IIRC reflection, "shimmering," etc. is automatic. If it's not happening, post a screenshot or two here.

I'm trying different textures, do I need to also make changes in fsx setting for water, or does rex overide that?

Rex OD doesn't override FSX settings. It's strictly textures.

Correct, REX is textures + weather. As long as you have all your FSX settings set like it is in the manual, it will work properly.
