Ridiculous FPS....frustrated and need advice

Featured Replies

OK, so let's preface this with the fact that I know I am running a lot of addons and asking a lot of my sim, however I still think I have an issue.

I've currently just loaded up a flight, sat in the Aerosoft A320 at a gate at London Heathrow (UK2000 v3) I have ActiveSky injecting weather, UT2 adding some AI aircraft (set to 15% in game density and 75% in UT2) and REX providing textures, however I have TML set to 1024 so as to try and save some frames there.

I am getting 4-6 FPS sat in the VC at the gate. Literally un-useable in that condition. I've just shut down the sim out of sheer frustration. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect to be able to get 50 FPS under these conditions, but 4? Come on. I'd be happy enough with 17-20. Something is clearly up with my configuration, despite my best efforts at trying to get everything set up just right using the resources and guides out there.

I have a (not top of the line) but pretty decent PC. SSDs, 3570K o/c to 4.2Ghz, GTX670 II,  8GB of good RAM....I'm not trying to run it on a 10 year old laptop, though it feels as if I might as well. Running in DX10 mode having (I thought) done everything right to optimize for that mode.

I don't know if anyone can help me, and help me get to the root of the issue, but surely from the above something is not right? I'm hoping someone looks at my settings and sees that I've made some massive mistake and there's a simple answer as to why I'm getting such wretched performance, but something tells me it's not going to be that simple. I even use SceneryConfigEditor to disable all of my addon airports that I'm not using so as to try and save every bit of resource possible.

Here are my fsx.cfg, in-game and NI settings...by the way, I'm running FSX in windowed mode on one monitor, and using the other apps like active sky and charts on the second monitor. Oh, and I've done all kinds of testing between unlimited and locked FPS and it's even worse when I lock, so that's not the issue.

Thanks all

Wow, just discovered it's SweetFX causing the issue.

WIth SFX - 4-6 FPS

Without - 16-19 FPS

Good catch! Thanks for the update as it might benefit someone else.
