default 737 ils landing

Featured Replies

I am flying rod machados solo ils approach to runway 16r at Paine field.i am at 3000ft and slowed back to 150 knots-spoilers to 25-30 and autobrakes to 2-3 but how do I land the airplane with/without autopilot?

I assume you mean flaps 25-30 !

The default 737 does not have autoland, so you need to do a normal everyday ILS landing..... ie. you land it.

Keep autopilot and autothrottle on ( in APP mode) as you intercept the glide slope. Lower the gear and note the pitch angle and engine power the A/P and A/T are commanding to maintain what should be something like a 800 fpm descent.

At 1000-1500 feet above airport elevation (about 1600-2100 feet altitude if you have the correct baro setting), disengage the A/P and adjust pitch to maintain the glide slope. At  200 feet  above airport elevation (800 altitude) concentrate on the rate of descent 800 fpm, don't chase the glideslope from here on. At about 50 feet (650 altitude) disengage the A/T and pull the throttles to idle. Flare and land.

You should really disengage the A/T at the same time as the A/P on the 737, and manually control the throttles, but I reckon you have enough to worry about at the moment.

ps what hardware (joystick/youke/rudder pedals) are you using?
