Modifying WOAI packages?

Featured Replies

Is it possible? Namely changing aircraft. I really want to update the Monarch and Thomson liveries (they're still called Thomsonfly!) plus add the Jet2 Holidays/Allegiant livery to the Jet2 aircraft. Just basically touch up a couple of airlines and make their liveries up to date without having to replace

I actually have a few AI packages which include the new liveries for Monarch and Thomson, so would it be as simple as just replacing the textures? If I overwrote the old texture with the new one, would things such as the aircraft sizes for both AI models being slightly different have a bearing on such a thing? And I also have a few models in the Jet2 Holidays livery, but how would I add them to the AI package whilst keeping aircraft with the older livery?

Thanks for any replies, cheers!

Firstly to look at the help required, are you familiar with the TTOOLS program for Ai files?

Traffic bgl files are compiled from an airport.txt list of airports, an aircraft.txt list of aircraft indexed by an assigned number and title as in the ai model aircraft.cfg, and a flightplans.txt file which is the schedule.

Ai Flight Planner 2 ( aifp2121.zip ) here in the FSX utility library (and works in FS9 as well) will let you decompile the WOIA .bgl file, make model changes once you have installed the livery textures and editied the appropriate aircraft.cfg. make any schedule changes to the flightplan, and then recompile back to a .bgl (modify the name and keep the old one renaming .bgl to .bgh to disable it to keep as backup).

AIFP is a windowed GUI front end to ttools2.exe used to compile and decompile traffic files which use those three files I mentioned. Just create a project folder for your working files for the decompilation and editing and then for compiling the edited data, all within aifp.

In FS9 WOAI bgl files are typically placed in FS9\scenery\World\scenery which already an active scenery folder.

Flukey - I am yes, although I've only briefly used it to check upon what aircraft are in a select few airlines fleets.

ronzie - I have downloaded AIFP2 and it definitely looks like the sort of program that I need! The thing is though, I'm not even a novice when it comes to editing AI, my only real experience of installing AI has been using the WOAI installer. Is it as simple as loading the .bgl file to AIFP2 and changing the model? Also, can it be used to install new AI flightplans?

I'd just like to add - It has worked a treat! So thank you very much for recommending this programme to me! :)

If the plans are in .bgl format and you have the correct models with liveries already in the aircraft folder, then all you should need to do is place the .bgl file of traffic in fs9/scenery/world/scenery.

However, it can't hurt to proof your plan by opening it in aifp to see if needed models with correct liveries are present as well as scenery.

Some plans may come with a .cfg file for aifp. When you click in the aircraft model window any red colored aircraft it may offer to download it for you. See the plan read.me.
