FSX menu very slow to respond

Featured Replies

I have always had this issue with the 777. when trying to access an fsx menu such as the weather options or even the exit window ...........the sims response time in opening that window can be very slow. particularly if the aircraft has been sitting on the ground for over half an hour for example. worse at some high end addon airport but also prevalent in default scenery airports too just to a lesser extent in terms of the time it takes to open a window from the menu. today for example I tried to open the weather option window after the 777 had been sitting at an airport gate for an hour or so and it took 10 mins to open the window. how ever once it had been opened and closed if I then tried to re open that same options window it was instant for the next 10 mins or so after which the time would gradually extent again as before.

to me this seems like the symptoms of memory leak because it builds and builds but is then seemingly released once opened and that cach then cleaned as it were and its back to normal speed temporarily. The longer the sim is left the longer and slower the menus take to open. Ive waited 25 mins on some occasions for  a menu window to open or the exit options and end up forcing a shut down instead because its taking too long. task manager does not say fsx has stopped responding however and these slow response times never result in ctd,s.

can anyone understand what happening here and give me an explanation? I don't have a slow system.

thanks

Hello kav

I read your post twice and it sounds odd whats happening. I'm not sure I have an answer, but how is the status of your OS? maybe you should go through processes running while fsx is executing. Thats of course if it is OS related. Otherwise it might be fsx optmization is your solution. A number of things come to mind, but I cannot really point one out. Registry issues, antivirus, VAS, fsx registry fix,

Hi

os is fine no problem, just standard processes running. vas is ok ,ive not tried fsx registry fix but its a fresh install anyway as had this issue previously but decided to reinstall win 7.unfortunately the same issue persisted after too.

Iv'e been having this issue as well after installing the 777. The menu freeze only lasts about 10 - 20 seconds at most. I have confirmed that it's caused by having the 777 installed. (It doesn't happen when it's not). My guess would be that my laptop is not very powerful for all these addon's, so it tries to load resources for the 777 and other various weather\scenery options. I guess the 777 is so well coded, that the pause may be due to the large amount of code it was designed with? Maybe Ryan or someone could answer that for me.

I never bothered opening a ticket about it since it "does" work. I managed to wait the extra 20 seconds or so.. :)

Cheers,

Tino.

Are you using an overclocked system?

Have you installed Windows or FSX or the PMDG777 while your system was overclocked?
