July 20, 201411 yr Hi all, Hopefully I can get some feedback regarding the below proposed system I'm looking towards for later in the year: CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K, 3.5GHz, Haswell 8MB MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-DH3 Socket 1150 ATX RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 2400MHz GRAPHICS: NVIDIA GeForce GTX780 3GB HDD: Seagate 1TB SATA-3 7200rpm PSU: Corsair AX860i 860W CPU COOLER: Corsair H100i Liquid Cooler CASE: Corsair Obsidian 650D Mid Tower I'm not sure about getting a SSD (size??) to put the OS (Win7 64Bit) onto with the HDD for flight sim stuff and anything else. I assume the above CPU can be overclocked to 4GHz - no previous experience with overclocking. Any comments about suitability or other suggestions will be most appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Cheers, Regards, Guy Burton
July 22, 201411 yr I'd change the case - I have the 650D... Not great I've has issues with static discharge still can't find out where the path is, usb3 are pass through only IE no motherboard headers. I had to replace the big fan within 2 years The fan controller is crap The side panel bulges even with cables well organized. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
July 22, 201411 yr Get a 4790K it turbos at 4.7 ghz. Not much need to OC. An h80I would be plenty good for those speeds. Im running 4790K at 4.7ghz. 1.300VCC at 48c with an H80i.
July 23, 201411 yr 4.4 for turbo (not 4.7) which is still great! My 2500k was at 4.4 ghz but the OC has failed and I'm at 4.2 now. I'd love to have 4.4 just at turbo. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
