HELP Installing FSX & OS Win 7 Pro on SSD

Featured Replies

Hi,
Can you please help me with a step by step tutorial. I want to format my Pc to a new state that is uninstalling and then re-install without losing my Data (Docs,Picture,Music,etc...). I'm having a few problems running Flight Simulator X and re installing Fsx and I was advised to reformat and clean installing Windows.

Currently I have Win Pro 7 x64 Bit SP1 installed.

PC Spec and current setup:

-2 x 1TB Seagate HDD (7.2k rpm)
RAID0 Setup

-1 x Brand New 480Gb SSD M500 Crucial Memory (Not yet Installed)
-1 x Brand new 120Gb SSD UDMA Adata (
Not yet Installed)

1. My initial plan is to install
Win 7 Pro OS & FSX on 480GB Crucial Memory SSD , which I need assistance with on how to setup and config through BIOS.

2.My 128GB SSD I want to use it for FSX Addons.

3. My 2 x 1TB Seagate HDD use them for storage and other Additional FSX Addons.

Since I currently have RAID0 Setup on my current System whats the best approach on how to uninstall and re install? As well need your assistance on what you recommend to be a best setup configuration regards my current system and my intentions.

I hope you will be able to assist me,thanks in advance.

Best Regards

Lloyd

If you want to do a clean install from scratch:

1- Any files and anything else on your current RAID0 setup that you want to keep you need to copy to a USB flash drive or HD so you can copy them to your new setup later.  The reason for this is when you do a fresh install of Win7 you RAID0 will be gone.

2- If I were you I would install Win7 on the Adata 120GB and puts FSX and all FSX addons on the Crucial 480GB.

3- Plug in the SSD to your MB that you are going to install Win7 on and leave all other harddrives and SSD's unplugged.

If you want to install Windows 7 without the 100MB partition the installer always wants to add follow this guide.  I never let Windows install that 100MB partition, it is a complete waste of good SSD space.

1) Create a single partition of the entire HDD / SSD

4- Install Windows.

5- After you install Windows get the CD that came with your motherboard and install all the drivers from that CD.  Look at the manual that came with your motherboard for the proper order to install all the drivers.

6- After you get the drivers installed run Windows Update and update Windows.  After you update run it again and again until you get a message that Windows is updated.

7- After that install the driver for your GPU that you want and any other hardware drives that you want to install.

8- Plug your other SSD in and your hard drives in then install all other software, copies of files to My Documents, My Pictures, etc.
