OpusFSX DHM Camera interfering with flight controls

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am having a problem with OpusFSX: If I have DHM enabled, the camera is interfering with the plane's movement and my steering input....

The problem is there in several planes (only tested with pmdg 737, douglas DC3 and grand caravan). It is really annoying because when the camera starts twitching the plane,

I try to correct it with the joystick but there is no immediate response. Instead, a delayed response is there and it's not smooth at all.

Also, on autopilot with PMDG 737, turns are not smooth. They are twitchy. Please tell me how to solve this because I really like the software and I want to buy it. (My friend gave it to me cause he got tired of fsx)

Regards.

This is the DHM Bump Aircraft option which your aircraft sim cannot cope with. It is configured in the DHM dialogs. Try reducing the BA DOF setting to 1, increasing the DOF Delay. Worst case if your sim does not like it at all then disable Bump Aircraft altogether.

P.S.

License are NOT transferable, your friend had absolutely NO right to give you the software, its not his to give.

Hi thanks for the reply! I actually forgot to mention that I am using MFSX.

This is the DHM Bump Aircraft option which your aircraft sim cannot cope with.

So you are telling me that I need to disable a function in the program that is made for the sim I am using because the function is not compatible with it?

That sounds kind of strange to me to be honest.

About the license: sorry about that. If I can get my problem fixed I will buy the software myself because for the weather part, I like it.

No. I am saying you need to adjust a setting because 'your' sim, or more specifically your aircraft sim cannot cope with the RW Bump Aircraft turbulence which will bump your aircraft around, altering its attitude etc..

You need to edit your DHM and do what I suggested. If you are using Live Camera then the DHM will be associated with the camera views. If not you will have to edit the General DHM via the FSXSERVER's Configure dialog.

So the feature is fully compatible with both FSX and P3D, I use DOF 3 with no Delay on my test systems. Its just either your system or your your aircraft sim, not all aircraft sims can cope with the RW motions, they expect the aircraft to obey their commands with no outside influence. Both DHM and its optional Bump Aircraft are based on RW data, 20 hours of recorded 3D accelerometer data captured on board real aircraft (a B737-800 for the Heavy set and our Europa XS Tri-Gear G-OSLD for the Light Aircraft set).

If you are using Live Weather you should also step though the Getting Started Guide for Single PCs and read the Recommended Practices notes for using the LWE.

DHM (Dynamic Head Movement) moves the head to animate such things as turbulence, engine noise, etc..

AHM (Automatic Head Movements) moves the head looking left or right based on rudder position (turning) when on the ground, and based on bank angle (banking) whilst airborne.

Best read the GS Guide and other documentation. Don't forget the Recommended Practices.

I just tried the thing you suggested: works A LOT better than before now :)

Thank you for the help I appreciate it.

  • 3 weeks later...

Looks like unfortunatelly 777 PMDG is not compatible either with DHM of OpusFSX.

I have just tried several different settings, but still the plane behaves completely erratic. Controls get stuck for a while, when the plane responds, it does it abruptly. The most bizarre behavior is to bank to either sides in a 30 degrees angle and the plane still goes straight ahead!

Are you aware of these issues and plan to solve it in a future update?

Thanks.

It is fully compatible. Your problems are related to your sim and not the aircraft. They result from nothing more than the DHM's Bump Aircraft setting. There has been extensive advise regarding Bump Aircraft and I thought it was well know that it may not be compatible with all user's sims.

The cure is simple. If you really want the Bump Aircraft option then you can first try reducing the Bump Aircraft's DOF setting in all relevant DHM dialogs, you should also try increasing the Bump Aircraft Delay Factor. If you are not too bothered about the optional Bump Aircraft then simply disable it in all relevant DHM dialogs.

Problem solved.

As I said OpusFSX and OpusFSI are both fully compatible with ALL aircraft sims. But not all sims or aircraft sims can cope with RW turbulent motions of the aircraft. The software in these cases expects the aircraft to respond exactly as commanded, something that does not happen in the RW of course. So if in doubt turn OFF the Bump Aircraft DHM option. It is optional after all.

Hi Wanthuyr

You could also try setting the General DHM delay (only available in the OpusFSI beta) which may help on your system.
