Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I want to ask a question

Can the ACARS works in the PMDG777 SP1 for downloading the real-time WX report or another messages?

If there are available, can you guys tell me how to do it. Thank you very much.

No.  This has been answered several times here in the forum.  If you'd like more detail as to why this isn't modeled, use the search function.  The short answer is no, because there's no central, free source for this kind of data.

The weather/route/descent forecast requests in the FMC however do work, because this pulls data from the .wx and .rte files inside your computer, put there from Activesky or PFPX or simbrief etc.

The screen you show requires Air Traffic control, Flight Information regions, or a Company dispatcher to interact with the aircraft.

... that said, I wonder if some basic FIR stuff could be put there by lifting some extended data from pfpx which has access to things like NOTAMs etc. Not quite the same as having a real person providing that function?

Obviously ATC messages etc wouldn't work... though it'd be cool if they could make the "text box" from VATSIM populate there if you logged in with (vpilot fsinn squawkbox or swift)

(Swift is a not-yet-released pilot connection software for VATSIM currently in development - and just like how Weather Radars were impossible, Swift may make ACARS ATC possible one day? maybe? coulda woulda should?)
