I have never been more annoyed by the wave animations in lakes and rivers in FSX. All flowing in one direction constantly not resembling anything from real life. Is it possible to turn off the wave effect only in lakes and rivers in FSX?

It's quite ugly isn't it? What I do is I use a REX wave animation that is more or less small or flat, like the "high flyer club" animation on REX-OD

Yep that's the best you can do. REX makes this issue much more tolerable, but proper water flow, it is not. That will never happen in FSX.

Try FEX, they make better ocean, or just delete the fxwaves in Effects folder.
