August 12, 201411 yr I originally posted this in the FSX forum but I figured it would get more exposure here since what I am talking about is pretty much exclusive to the 777 right now and the PDC / Route request feature is unique to very few aircraft at the moment. "Hey guys, with using SimBrief or PFPX when creating a flight plan and loading it in the 777 flightplan and wx folders, when requesting it through the CDU I am noticing something. The route loads fine and PERF inti etc. However I am noticing that the DEP rwy is not being inserted into the FMC, no flight number, most ALT restriction on the STAR are not present and I have to reselct the SID and or the STAR to get the correct speeds and constraints installed. I thought this was supposed to happen by default? Am I missing something?" Thanks for the help guys. August 12, 201411 yr Commercial Member I thought this was supposed to happen by default? Am I missing something? The route request isn't supposed to pull in SID/STARs, and if SID/STARs are in there as part of the route string, then it won't treat the altitudes as coded altitudes as if they were selected via SID/STARs. Export the core route. Use route request. Add the SID/STAR. The reason for this is to avoid conflicts when navdata updates, along with a couple others that I can't remember at the moment. ATC can change the runway at any time. There's no sense in throwing a runway into a route that early. Runways are assigned when the plane taxis; not as early as when the dispatcher creates the route. Runway assignments (along with SIDs, and potentially STARs as well) in PFPX are advisory only. Kyle Rodgers
August 12, 201411 yr Author Okay that makes sense. So for shorter flight KPHX KDEN or KLAX KLAS where the SID connects to the STAR is it even worth requesting, since I will have to enter the SID/STAR manually anyways? Correct - not worth it. For the flight plan, enter the departure and arrival airports, and the transition point between the SID and STAR, EXEC. Add the SID/STAR on DEP/ARR. That whole pilot-executed work flow would probably take the same amount of time as the whole ROUTE REQ for a route that short. Kyle Rodgers
