Does Nividia Inspector profiile apply automatically?

Featured Replies

I just noticed that 8xMSAA gives me great AA results in v2.3, especially noticeable on panels and gauges. The results look more like what I had with v2.0 8xMSSA + 4xSGSSAA in Nvidia Inspector.

The thing is now I don't start NI and apply the profile prior to starting P3D like I always did with v2.0, so I guess NI has nothing to do with improved MSAA results in v2.3?

Or every time I run P3D the Prepar3D.exe profile in NI actually gets automatically applied? If so that explains the very nice AA in v2.3 since it's effectively 8xMSAA + 4xSGSSAA. If not then v2.3 has done an incredible job improving the MSAA results.

SGSS aa is the only thing that works in inspector

Yes. Inspector works directly in the nVidia profiles with are linked to the (in this case) P3D.exe so you once you've got Inspector setup the way you want it, you won't have to open it again.

BTW You may expect a huge loss in performance with the Inspector settings you are using now...

Thanks! That explains why the 8xMSAA is so marvelously nice in v2.3 since it's backed by 4xSGSSAA in my NI.

I know SGSSAA is heavy on performance, but it's just so nice to have it. On my 780ti the performance hit is kind of acceptable, but I remember certain clouds really kill the fps with SGSSAA.

I'll try to disable SGSSAA in NI tonight and see how much performance I may gain and how much AA visual I may loss..

I disabled 4xSGSSAA in NI's P3D profile but it didn't seem to make a big difference on fps. With 8xMSAA only the image quality is hardly different from SGSSAA on, unlike my previous experiences which SGSSAA makes quite a difference in both AA quality and P3D performance. Kind of puzzling but I might as well just keep the SGSSAA on for "free".
