How to make same changes like the DX10Fixer did?

Recommended Posts

Hello guysn'gals!

- I'm all new to FSX. I made my first install two weeks ago. Now, two weeks later, and after countless of hours of reading on how to get the most out of FSX, I begin to realize the vastness of this topic. It is gigantic. I pretty soon realized there will be no time over for flying if I would test each and every possible tweak I found. With this in mind, I decided to just use the most common and well documented tweaks that was recommended, and pay no attention to the more obscure tweaks. So, I was thinking a good approach would be to just use one of the widely spread basic setup guides that are made available?

And I think it looks great. The only thing that annoys me is that every one of these guides assumes that I'm using something I have learned is called 'Steve's DX10 Fixer' along with the guide. But it seems like it's too late to get this little application. It is no more. It has passed away. Gone. Not available.

So, eventhough I think it looks great, I can't be sure since I have nothing to compare to.

Hence my question: - Is it possible to manually make all changes that the 'Steve's DX10 Fixer' did? It seems that the only thing what is left after this fixer is some automated DX10 patches that only partially covers what the 'Steve's DX10 Fixer' did. So, can it be made manually or are newcomers smoked for all eternity?

You can find the latest free "DX10 Patch" here on the Avsim Library, Ratata. Do a search for shader_release_v3.2.3.zip - it's located in the FSX - Miscellaneous Files section. (You may have to create an account for yourself if you don't already have one).

It will provide you with a stable version of FSX, but without the extra features which were available in the retail Fixer. This patch was the last of a long series of patches, and served as a "development environment " from which the retail version was created. It comes with instructions for it's installation, and is supported by many people here, plus Steve may well pop in from time to time. Official support for the retail fixer is available here.

All the Best,

Hi can any of you have already installed it, help me out.. I know it has instructions & I have tried already doing it but I am still getting some things greyed out like AES Jetways & AES ramp guy is all grayed out.. It changed it a little bit because originally they were whited out now there grayed out.

I just feel better if someone has already done it successfully helps me out, So I know I'm doing it right...

I'm trying get the AES Jetways to look normal in DX 10 as they do in DX 9..  There looking grayed out right now as well as the Ramp agent that goes with AES & the jetway especially at night..
